Visitors can follow a 3.5 km circular trail that passes through woodland while highlighting key historical spots linked to the Battle of Culloden. Along the route, you’ll find landmarks such as the Prisoners’ Stone and the Lord President’s Seat, as well as St Mary’s Well, a traditional clootie well associated with local folklore and good luck rituals. The trail can also be extended to include Culloden Battlefield for a deeper historical experience.
Entry to Culloden Wood is completely free, making it an accessible outdoor attraction. Parking is available on-site, and the woods are open daily from dawn to dusk.

From Inverness, take the A96 towards Aberdeen and after about 1 mile (1.6 km) take the 2nd roundabout exit towards Balloch, Culloden and Smithton. At the second set of traffic lights turn right towards Culloden Moor and Croy. The car park is on your left after ¼ mile (400 metres).
