Handel Hendrix House is a museum in Mayfair, London, dedicated to the lives and works of the German-born British Baroque composer George Frideric Handel and the American rock singer-guitarist Jimi Hendrix, who lived at 25 and 23 Brook Street respectively. 

Handel Hendrix House is made up of two residences: Handel’s house at 25 Brook Street and Hendrix’s flat at the top floor of 23 Brook Street. The museum also offers exhibition spaces that further dive into the lives of the two musicians and their times in London.

Explore  The Museum:

  • Handel House: Handel House occupies four floors of 25 Brook Street, the building in which the composer George Frideric Handel lived from 1723 until his death in 1759.
  • Hendrix Flat: Hendrix Flat occupies the upper floor of 23 Brook Street, in which Jimi Hendrix lived from July 1968 to March 1969. The main room of the flat where he lived, entertained friends, rehearsed and wrote new music, and gave numerous press and media interviews has been restored.

  • Easter Tail: Our historic rooms have been visited by the Easter bunny! This Easter, hop over to the Handel Hendrix House for a special, fun-filled trail through our historic rooms. Explore the fascinating spaces where Handel and Hendrix lived, all while following clues and learning fun facts along the way. 
  • Craft Activities: Get crafty this Easter and make your own egg shaker! Decorate and fill an egg shaker case to make an Easter themed percussion instrument to take home and celebrate the weekend.

Access for researchers: We welcome requests to view collection items or the museum building itself by researchers. Access can be provided to study collection items not on display or to visit the museum for research purposes outside normal visiting hours. Whilst we do not currently have a searchable catalogue of our full collection, many items are listed within the catalogue of the Gerald Coke Handel Collection, which can be searched here.

  • Parking: There is disabled accessible parking on Grosvenor street and we offer step-free, level access to the building to wheelchair users.
  • Toilets: Our accessible toilet is located by the Shop on the Ground Floor. The nearest Changing Places toilet is in Paddington Station or the Wellcome Collection in Euston. 
  • Assistance Animals: Assistance and Guide dogs are welcome throughout at Handel Hendrix House. If possible, please ensure that your dog is wearing an appropriate tabard or harness.
