The Haysden Country Park is a large natural park covering around 65 hectares with a variety of landscapes including lakes, woodland, and grassland. Located on the outskirts of Tonbridge, it is a designated Local Nature Reserve and Green Flag award park. It is a great destination for outdoor activities, nature exploration, and family outings.

Visitors can explore walking and cycling routes such as the Eden Valley Walk and Wealdway, along with a waymarked sculpture trail. Activities include fishing at Barden Lake, virtual orienteering using GPS, enjoying the children’s play area with slides and climbing structures, and spotting wildlife across diverse habitats. The park also features a café, picnic areas, accessible facilities, and open spaces for relaxation.

Entry is free for all visitors, although parking is pay and display and certain activities may have additional charges.

Features

Haysden Country Park lies on the western outskirts of Tonbridge. Covering an area of about 65 hectares it includes a range of natural habitats such as river, grassland, freshwater lakes, marshland and woodland. The site is designated as a Local Nature Reserve and in part a Site of Nature Conservation Interest. It has also been a Green Flag award park since 2006 and is a Natural England accredited park.

  • Walking and cycling: The Eden Valley walk and Wealdway lead through the park. There is also a waymarked sculpture trail to enjoy. Cycling is only permitted on Regional Cycle Route 12  between Tonbridge Castle and Penshurst Place. There are cycle racks beside the toilets.
  • Virtual orienteering: Using your phone or GPS smartwatch, design your own route around a set of virtual checkpoints. The courses are free and can be done at a time that best suits you.
  • Fishing and watersports: Fishing in this park is controlled by Tonbridge and District Angling and Fish Preservation Society. Day tickets are available from the bailiff at Barden Lake
  • Children's play area: Your children will love our adventure play area. It's suitable for children up to 12 and includes slides, an aerial runway, climbing structures and swings. You'll find the play area near the main car park.

Facilities

  • Parking: The car park has a height barrier (two metres) and is pay and display. Season tickets are available.
  • Food & Drinks: You will find the cafe in the park near the main car park and play area. Serving hot and cold food and drinks, all seating is outside. There are some wheelchair accessible picnic seats are on the hard surfaces.
  • Toilets: Toilets can be found near the main car park. This includes a disabled toilet is located near the main car park, a RADAR key is required.
