Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities including the unique Boda Borg indoor challenge rooms, Zipit forest zipline adventures, kayaking, boat tours and a fun Treasure Trail for children. The park also features the Adventure Play Kingdom, a multi-use games area, outdoor gym and scenic walking and cycling trails. One of the highlights is the Tree Canopy Walk, offering breathtaking views above the forest, along with the Moylurg Tower and underground tunnels as part of the Rockingham Remembered experience. 

There are both free and paid activities, with examples including €12 for the Treasure Trail, €25 for a 2-hour Boda Borg session, €5 for the Adventure Play Kingdom and €10 for the Rockingham Remembered tour. Birthday parties are also available, with popular options like Boda Borg and Adventure Play Kingdom, where groups work in teams to complete fun challenges.

  • Treasure Trail: Grab your Pack and embark on a fun-filled Treasure Trail designed for children aged 5-12! Accompanied by adults, young explorers will follow an exciting outdoor trail through forest paths, solving clues and discovering Lough Key’s natural beauty along the way. Each pack purchased includes one special prize upon completion of the trail, perfect for encouraging curiosity and teamwork. There’s no rush, so enjoy the adventure at your own pace!
  • Boda Borg: Get ready for an adventure like no other! Boda Borg is a one-of-a-kind, indoor, interactive experience that will challenge your mind, body, and teamwork skills. Designed for ages 7 and up, it’s the ultimate team activity where groups of 3-5 people come together to tackle a series of 15 creative, brain-teasing quests. Each quest consists of uniquely themed rooms filled with puzzles, physical challenges, and riddles to solve.
  • Rockingham Remembered Tour: Discover how this fascinating landscape has been shaped; from underground to up amongst the treetops, ‘Irelands first Tree Canopy Walk, a truly unique experience immersing you in the history, flora and fauna that make Lough Key so unique. The ‘Rockingham Remembered Tour’ is an engaging self guided tour of the Park’s history, flora and fauna through the 19th century underground tunnels, to the top of the refurbished 5-storey Moylurg viewing tower and along a contemporary Tree Canopy Walk, the first of its kind in Ireland, This 300m long creation of timber and steel gently rises 9m above the woodland floor and offers an engaging ‘birds eye’ view of nature as it meanders through the treetops offering panoramic views of the shimmering island studded lake.
  • Adventure Play Kingdom: The Adventure Play Kingdom is suitable for children up to 12yrs of age. Providing stimulating and entertaining activities and equipment for children of all ages and abilities in a colourful and safe environment.

  • Zipit Forest Adventures: Zipit is a high wire forest adventure park with a difference. A place for young and old, where children can let their imagination run wild and where adults can embrace their inner child. You can climb high into the treetops, swing into cargo nets, even ride a bmx across a bridge, before zipping down one of our many ziplines. Come as a family, come on your own, or bring along a group. Children from age 7 to adults can enjoy up to 3 hours of excitement and adventure.
  • Cé Saunas – Lough Key Forest Park: A Finnish style, wood-fired barrel sauna on the banks of Lough Key. This sauna is the perfect place to unwind. Take in the views of beautiful Lough Key and McDermott’s castle while relaxing in the heat. Cool off with an invigorating swim in Lough Key afterwards. Absolute bliss!
  • P Mac Kayaks: Offering tailor made kayak sessions. Fun for all ages, adults and children.
  • Lough Key Boat Tours: Experience the history and tranquillity that Lough Key has to offer by spending an hour relaxing, meeting new people and simply just enjoying the lake and sights with Lough Key Boat Tours. We are Lough Key locals who can share interesting and quirky stories about Lough Key as well as taking you on a professionally guided tour of the greatest Lakes in Ireland.

Free Activities

  • MUGA: MUGA stands for Multi Use Games Area. They’re made from artificial grass surfacing and incorporate the different turf types and pitch markings needed to accommodate a number of sports, right there in one place. Lough Key’s MUGA can accommodate football and Basketball.
  • Outdoor Gym Equipment: Just like at a normal gym there is a real range of equipment that can be used, to include some weight machines, bars to hang from, specially adapted step-master type equipment and a variety of lower limb exercisers.

You can rest assured your group will be looked after from the moment they arrive to leaving the park. We pride ourselves on our unique location, activities and our service. Lough Key’s secret activity which is perfect for Birthday parties : Boda Borg and or our Adventure Play Kingdom. This activity is ideal for the group to get to know each other and have some fun as you have to work in teams to conquer the challenges – Minimum 3 per team and maximum of 5 to solve mental and physical challenges.

  • By Car: Lough Key is conveniently located on the N4 Dublin to Sligo Road and is 17 kilometres from the N5 Dublin to Westport Road. The town of Boyle is only 5 km from Lough Key, which links to the N61 Roscommon/Athlone Road. There is no charge for exploring the many trails throughout the Park and Estate. The car parking fee of €6 goes towards the maintenance of the trails, grass cutting and the disposal of refuse. If you spend €20 on attractions, food or gifts in the Visitor Centre, then car parking is free.
  • By Bus: The town of Boyle is serviced by a number of bus routes: For timetables, routes and further information please log onto Bus Eireann at www.buseireann.ie
  • By Train: Boyle Train Station is on the Sligo – Dublin Route.
  • By Boat: Lough Key is part of the Shannon-Erne Waterway.
