  • The History of the Maison Dieu: The Maison Dieu, meaning "House of God," is a historic building with origins dating back to the medieval period, often found in European towns. These institutions were established as almshouses or hospitals, offering shelter and care to the poor, the sick, and travellers — a reflection of the Christian duty of charity. A notable example is the Maison Dieu in England, founded in 1203 by Hubert de Burgh. Originally built as a hostel for pilgrims visiting the shrine of Thomas Becket in Canterbury, it later evolved to serve various civic functions, including as a naval victualling yard and a town hall. Though many Maison Dieu buildings have since been transformed or restored, they remain enduring symbols of medieval social welfare and community care.
  • Museum: Museum focuses on the Maison Dieu foundation itself and its immediate neighbourhood, and on the extensive finds made during excavations at the main complex and an important Roman cemetery nearby.
