Mendip Activity Centre in Somerset is one of the South West’s leading outdoor adventure and training providers. Established in 1987, it offers over 25 thrilling activities for individuals, families, schools, and groups. Set in the stunning Mendip Hills, it’s the perfect place for outdoor fun, learning, and exploration.

Visitors can enjoy a huge range of experiences including tobogganing, skiing, snowboarding, climbing, caving, kayaking, paddleboarding, and frisbee golf. There’s also orienteering, archery, and the high-energy Hangar 51 for Nerf and Gelfire battles. The 165m floodlit dry ski slope and private quarry provide year-round adventure opportunities, while SUP Bristol — part of the Mendip group — lets guests paddle through the city’s Floating Harbour.

Prices start from £5 for axe throwing, £7 for tobogganing, £20 for archery, and £24 for climbing and abseiling. Birthday party packages are available for ages 4–12, with private group sessions and optional catering at the Alpine Lounge café.

Tobogganing: Our Tobogganing slope is one of our most popular activities and things to do in Somerset! Children and adults blast down our floodlit Toboggan slope on colourful Zibob toboggans, laughing and smiling. A light sprinkler system makes the slope extra slippery and the running up and down is guaranteed to burn off energy. The slope is open air, floodlit and goes ahead in all-weather. The covered spectator area - and accessible viewing platform - ensures parents can safely view their children.
Caving: Plunge into the depths of the Mendip Hills National Landscape for a spectacular underground experience! Caving is a great adventure, where you crawl, climb, slide and squeeze through caves rich in human and geologic history to discover magnificent natural features. When approached with expert instruction, caves are amazing places to discover and they provide a truly unique adventure for everyone from beginners to underground enthusiasts.
Nerf & Gelfire Battles: You’ve been cleared for entry into Hangar 51 - a decommissioned military hangar, used for classified extraterrestrial research. Reactivated as a high-octane battle arena where YOU become the hero in your own reallife video game. Assemble your elite unit of 8 to 16 operatives and gain exclusive access to Hangar 51 — no outsiders, no interference, just your team inside the classified combat zone. Your mission commander will deliver a quick briefing and safety rundown... then it’s weapons hot and straight into the action.

Snowsports: Mendip's floodlit 165-metre artificial dry ski slope, close to Bristol, Bath & Weston-super-Mare, is open year-round for beginners eager to try something new or experienced enthusiasts looking to keep their skiing and snowboarding sharp. Flexibility to learn at your own pace. Choose from great value Learn to Ski or Learn to Snowboard courses, book Private lessons or book your 5 to 7 year olds onto our Minis lessons.
Climbing: Explore deep below and above the limestone of the Mendip Hills, Somerset. From exciting caving experience for beginners and advanced adventurous to Climbing and Abseiling sessions in our private rock sports quarry, Sandford Quarry, it's time for adventure!
Watersports: Get ready to paddle with Kayaking, Canoeing and Stand Up Paddleboarding sessions with SUP Bristol and Mendip Activity Centre! Mendip's private watersports venue is at Hewish, near Weston-super-Mare whilst SUP Bristol are based at the Underfall Yard in the centre of Bristol. Try your hand at Canoeing, Kayaking and Stand Up Paddle Boarding. Tackle an Assault Course or attempt to build a Raft and paddle it down the river.
Frisbee Golf: Frisbee Golf, sometimes known as Disc Golf, is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, get more active and have fun trying something new with family and friends. Our 18-hole Frisbee Golf Course is set in one of Southwest England's most special places - The Mendip Hills National Landscape. The self-led 2km course navigates rolling hilltop and woodland tracks with many beautiful and picturesque views.
Orienteering: Orienteering is an exciting and challenging outdoor sport that involves navigating between neon-coloured checkpoints called controls marked on a map. At each checkpoint, you punch a control box with a handheld punch device. Usually it is at a pace and level that suits you, be it walking or running. You'll need to call on your navigation skills and concentrate as it's all about being able to figure out where you are on your map so you can decide where to go next.
