Mercia Marina is a unique lakeside destination in Derbyshire combining boating, boutique shopping, dining, and luxury lodge living. Set within 77 acres of grounds and 25 acres of water, it offers space to relax, explore and unwind. Whether visiting for the day or staying longer, it brings together nature, leisure and vibrant community life in one place.

Visitors can enjoy circular nature walks ranging from 1.5 to 3.3 miles through Findern, Willington and Repton, as well as the Sculpture Trail featuring nine unique artworks including the Green Man and Neptune. Boat trips aboard the Mercia Swan offer 45 or 75 minute cruises along the Trent & Mersey Canal, with private charters and return services to Willington or routes towards Stenson. The marina also features independent boutiques, cafés, two award-winning restaurants, luxury holiday lodges, regular activities and events throughout the year, and access to nearby villages including Willington, Findern and Repton with attractions such as Repton School and St Wystan’s Church.

Entry and parking are always free for visitors. Pricing for boat trips, lodges, shopping and dining varies depending on the experience chosen.

  • Walks: There are various Circular Nature Walks to choose from at Mercia Marina, ranging in distance from 1.5 miles to 3.3 miles. Each route takes you through the beautiful nearby villages of Findern, Willington, and Repton. The maps were developed with volunteers from Findern Footpaths. These family-friendly trails are designed to spark interest in the countryside and local wildlife. 
  • Sculpture Trail: Have you met the Green Man or Neptune? Scattered around the marina are nine unique sculptures, each with its own story to tell. From a friendly troll hiding beneath a bridge to an ancient god watching over the water, these artworks bring a sense of wonder and discovery to every walk. The Sculpture Trail celebrates creativity and craftsmanship, featuring pieces made from wood, metal, and bronze by well-known local and national artists. 
  • Boat Trips: Step aboard the Mercia Swan and enjoy a relaxing journey through the heart of Derbyshire’s waterways. Based right here at Mercia Marina — Europe’s largest inland canalboat marina — the boat trips offer a wonderful way to explore the Trent & Mersey Canal. Choose from a 45 or 75 minute cruise or book a private charter for a more personal experience. Each trip offers peaceful views of the countryside and a chance to see local wildlife and life on the water from a new perspective.
  • Local Area: Mercia Marina is perfectly placed for discovering the charming villages and towns nearby. Just a short walk away is Willington, a welcoming village known for its friendly community and excellent amenities. Here, you’ll find three inviting pubs, ideal for a relaxing pint or a hearty meal, as well as shops, cafes, and essential services. Willington offers the perfect mix of village charm with practical convenience. A little further afield are the picturesque villages of Findern and Repton. Findern is a quiet, idyllic spot with beautiful countryside walks and traditional village life, while Repton is steeped in history, renowned for its historic buildings, charming streets, and the famous Repton School.
