Monkland Cheese Dairy is a traditional artisan cheese dairy located in Monkland, near Leominster, United Kingdom. Here, Little Hereford Cheese is made by hand using raw milk and time-honoured cheesemaking methods. It is a welcoming place where visitors can learn about cheese production, taste local products and enjoy simple homemade food.

The Dairy Tour is a 45 minute introduction to artisan, raw milk cheesemaking, running at 10am and 11am, where visitors can see milk turning into cheese and explore the aromatic cheese stores. The Cheese Experience Day takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays, starting with milk collection at 6am and cheesemaking from 7.15am through to 4pm, offering a full hands-on learning experience. There is also a Cheese Shop selling seven cheeses plus other British cheeses, and a Cafe serving the Little Hereford Ploughmans Lunch, cheese platters, homemade soup, cakes and cream tea.

Dairy Tour price is £12.00. Cheese Experience Day price is £140.00.

The shop and cafe are open 10–4 Monday to Saturday, with plenty of parking and lovely gardens. Visitors can enjoy excellent coffee, proper leaf tea and light lunches made with local ingredients. It is a perfect destination for cheese lovers who want to taste, learn and experience traditional cheesemaking in a friendly countryside setting.

  • Cheese Tours: We are two separate businesses now but working closely together so please feel free to join us for a pre-tour or post-tour coffee / tea, cake or a cheese led lunch/snack. we look forward to seeing you. A big thank-you to all our visitors over the past 28 years who have enjoyed the tours and cheese tasting. And, thanks also to all my cheesemaking/tour guides over the years who have explained the delights and mystery of milk becoming cheese.
  • Dairy Tour: Our 45 minute Cheese Tour is a fantastic introduction for anyone interested in learning about artisan, raw milk cheese making. Our tours run at 10am & 11am, an exciting time in the production day, where visitors will see the milk forming into the gel that will gradually become our cheeses. You will hear from our cheesemakers about the methods, observations and timings they are using to make cheese. You have the opportunity to ask questions and visit the aromatic cheese stores where our hard cheeses mature.  
  • Experience Day: Join us for a cheese making day and learn the processes & skills of cheesemaking! Nothing beats getting hands on and quite literally milky to truly understand how cheese becomes cheese. Our cheesemaking days are Mondays & Wednesdays. The working day begins with milk collection at 6am with Jo, cheese making with Dean, Tara and Robert starting at 7.15am with different aspects of this running through until 4pm. You can join us for as much of our working day as you would like - pre booking is essential.
  • Cafe: We have a very simple menu. Our classic offering is the Little Hereford Ploughmans Lunch which is a serving of our Little Hereford cheese, homebaked bread, welsh butter, sweet apple chutney and grape, celery, apple and walnut garnish. We obviously want you to enjoy our cheese while you are here so, cheese platter, blue cheese ploughman, cheese roll.........We also serve our own soup, homemade cakes and during high season our cream tea with clotted cream and Carol makes some lovely strawberry jam.
