Play Bradford in West Yorkshire is a unique community organisation dedicated to inspiring creativity, freedom, and adventure through play. Formerly known as Eccleshill Adventure Playground (The Big Swing), it has been an integral part of the local community for over 20 years, providing children and families across Bradford with engaging, low-cost opportunities to play, explore, and connect.
The site features the well-loved Big Swing Adventure Playground in Eccleshill, home to an impressive fort maze, zipline, football pitch, slime den, and jumping tower — all designed based on feedback from local children. Every piece of equipment is built to encourage confidence, creativity, and physical development through play. The team also runs the Mobile Adventure Playground (M.A.P), which brings exciting pop-up play sessions to neighbourhoods across the district, making play accessible for all.
Pricing details vary depending on activities or venue hire, and visitors are encouraged to contact the team directly for information. The venue can also be hired for birthday parties, team-building days, or private events, with flexible space options including the adventure playground and indoor facilities with a fully equipped kitchen.
Open Tuesday to Friday from 3:30pm to 6:00pm and Saturday from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, Play Bradford is an inclusive, community-driven space where imagination knows no limits. With its adventurous spirit and welcoming approach, it’s one of Bradford’s most inspiring places for families to play, learn, and grow together.

The Big Swing Adventure Playground
- The Big Swing is based in Eccleshill and has been an integral part of the community for nearly 20 years. Wondering why it’s called The Big Swing? Well, you might have guessed it. We have one right in the middle of our site. We also have a fort maze, zipline, football pitch, slime den and jumping tower!
- We choose the equipment based on the feedback we get from the children and young people. We’re big believers in utilising adventure play as a tool to improve children’s wellbeing and overall development. Which is why each piece of our play equipment challenges the children and enables them to use their body and mind in different ways.
Mobile Adventure Playground
- Our Mobile Adventure Play (M.A.P) strand is a really key aspect of our work as it allows us to make our sessions mobile and make play more accessible to children, families and communities across the Bradford District. Our sessions happen after school and run throughout the year.
- We use different equipment depending on the area and encourage people to come say hello and join in if they see us out and about! If you spot our M.A.P van, it’s probably Hamid driving. So give him a wave!
