Private Punting Tours: Private Punting Tours - enjoy the luxury of having the entire punt to yourself. The punts seat up to twelve passengers, if there are fewer of you then you will be able to spread out, or even move around the punt. All private tours are booked for a specific time, this will enable you to avoid queuing during busy times like Saturday afternoons. On a private tour, you pay for the entire boat which is more expensive for small groups but can work out cheaper for larger groups. You can expect the same high-quality boats, cushions, and blankets as you would with any of our punting tours.
Shared Tours: Booking a shared tour ticket gives you the peace of mind that you will be able to depart when you want to. Not booking a ticket leaves you liable for a long delay. During busy times of the year and most weekend afternoons, it is normal for all the punting companies to be scheduling tours for two hours in advance. Equally, during slower times, not pre-booking will typically lead to a 40-minute delay in order to find more passengers for you to share with.
May Week Fireworks: Punting on the Cam offers the perfect vantage point to view the spectacular fireworks that accompany May Week. With a May Ball fireworks punting experience, you can relax with friends and family on our comfortable raised cushions and rugs that we supply, and make it a night you'll never forget. These raised seats are an essential extra level of luxury as you will be seated for 2.5 hours. Our punts depart from our landing stage at 8.30. The fireworks usually start around 10 pm, with raucous cheers from the students and punters alike. The display is done to a variety of different music genres, usually classical and pop. Large rockets shoot from the Fellows Lawn. Catherine wheels and flame throwers line the riverbank. Moving displays of light are shone onto the college buildings, and lasers are directed into the sky to accompany the fireworks. The display usually lasts around 10 minutes and finishes with a grand finale. You should expect to arrive back at around 11 pm. You are free to bring alcoholic drinks, but go easy because you will be seated for a while.
Picnic Punting Tours: To offer a picnic we have teamed up with Le Patissierthe heart of St. Johns College, they specialize in delicious food. In order to create a traditional offering, fit for a punt tour we have selected fresh cream teas, cakes & delicate finger sandwiches. Just in case you are not English, then cream tea is actually scones, cream & jam.
