Features

The Ark is a dedicated cultural centre for children. We create opportunities for children, along with their families and friends or with their school, to discover and love art. Through our work with leading Irish and international artists children can enjoy performances in our unique child-sized theatre, view engaging exhibitions or participate in creative workshops. Alongside delivering events and activities for children with their families or schools, we have a range of projects where the aims are to create brilliant art experiences for children, ensure that more children experience art through The Ark and to advance children’s right to art and culture.

  • The Ark @ Home: The Ark @ Home is a way for children who are home from school to connect with The Ark through a series of at-home arts activities, virtual events, online screenings of live performances and much more.
  • The Ark & Artists: Children deserve the very best art and culture. We encourage and resource artists to make outstanding and experimental art for children through properly supported and remunerated commissions, productions and professional development.
  • Advocacy: In the belief that children have a right to art and culture as part of their learning and development, we will advance this right within our own organisation and in wider society.
  • The Children’s Council: The Ark Children’s Council is a unique opportunity for a group of children of 4th and 6th class age to gain special access to events at The Ark for a full year. vThe Council are mentored and guided by The Ark Engagement and Participation Artist Shaun Dunne. They work together collaboratively over the course of the year, engaging with and responding to The Ark’s busy program.
  • Engagement: We are creating more opportunities for children, and those who support them at school or at home, to make and share art.
