The Quay Climbing Centre: Roped Climbing, Bouldering & Youth Programmes, the South West’s largest indoor climbing centre, has something for every climber whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro. Features 81 roped walls, making it one of the most extensive top rope and lead climbing setups in the region. With routes that range from beginner to expert levels, there's always a challenge waiting for you. For those looking to test their bouldering skills, offer two boulder caves with 30 problems, reset regularly by our in-house team, as well as a 10-degree circuit board with 5 circuits, each consisting of up to 50 moves. Roped Climbing: With 81 Roped Walls ranging from 7 to 15 meters, offer a variety of climbing experiences. Whether you're new to roped climbing or looking to improve your technique, we have something to suit everyone.
Bouldering: Two boulder caves provide a variety of problems, regularly reset by our in-house team, offering a total of 30 problems. also have a 10-degree circuit board with 5 circuits, each consisting of up to 50 moves. These spaces are ideal for climbers of all levels looking to test and improve their bouldering technique.
The Boardroom: For those looking to take their training to the next level, The Boardroom is the perfect space. It includes a Comp Slab Wall, 30-degree StoKt LED Lock Woody board, Splat Board, and the original 40-degree board.
Beginner Sessions
- Auto Belay/Bouldering Intro: A 1-hour induction session where you'll learn to use our auto belays and boulder rooms. No prior experience is required. (Ages 7+)
- Belaying and Roped Climbing Inductions: Learn how to climb independently in our centre during two 1-hour sessions. This course is for beginners aged 18+.
- Mastering Technique & Movement: A four-session course to help climbers develop essential climbing skills and movement techniques. Suitable for beginners aged 18+.
Progression Courses
- Step Up to Lead: If you're climbing confidently at 6a or higher, this 2-week course will teach you the fundamentals of lead climbing. (Ages 18+)
- 1:1 Coaching: For climbers looking to develop specific skills, this personalized coaching session helps you achieve your climbing goals through focused technique and fitness training.
Youth Climbing Programmes
- Rockstars Club (Ages 4-7): This club focuses on building confidence and fun on the Clip ‘n Climb arena, helping young climbers develop agility and technique. Membership is £32/month for a 1-hour weekly session.
- Monquays (Ages 7-11): Aimed at young climbers transitioning to roped climbing, Monquays focuses on developing climbing skills and preparing for the NICAS scheme. Membership is £32/month for a 1-hour weekly session.
- Youth Club (Ages 11-17): For young climbers ready to progress through the NICAS scheme and take on lead climbing. Membership is £36/month for a 90-minute weekly session, with an additional £7.50 to enrol in the NICAS scheme.
- Performance Squads: For young climbers looking to compete regionally and nationally. Membership is by invitation or trials, and squad members follow a structured training plan.
Groups: Youth groups with a variety of services, including activity days, focused GCSE and DofE syllabus support, and NICAS progression. As a Primary NICAS Centre, we can both deliver the syllabus and train others to teach it.
