What to see

THE PLAY AREA:

  • Baby Room- A big concern of most new parents at indoor play centres is the unpredictability of toddlers and older children around babies, so this space is an ideal retreat, separated from the main play area with a child-proof gate but still easily accessible from the main room.It is approx 40m² of safe space for only the youngest customers. It has a specialist sensory area containing lots of different features to interest inquisitive young minds, along with additional seating space dedicated to parents and babies, with maternity pillows.
  • Toddler Area-This is a specially designed frame comprising approx 25m² of play space, along with an enclosed padded play area to the front and lots of interactive pieces. It’s in the rear corner of the room, close enough to everything else to retain the atmosphere but far enough away to create a sheltered corner for parents & toddlers to play safely. It did also have a ball pit, in the area at the bottom of the slide. This area has a height restriction which roughly equates to a max age of around 3 years.
  • Main Play Area- The main area has approx 85m² of play space with lots of interesting features in two separate (but linked) sections across two storeys, to keep your children playing for hours. Because of the layout of the play centre, custom-fitted into a traditional building rather than the usual open retail unit, customers often perceive this area to be smaller than many other local centres, but the main play area has very little empty space, almost every cell has some kind of play feature in it.
  • Assault Course- This area is situated just off the main room, along the party-room corridor. It’s a purpose built play area designed to lead the children through one doorway, all the way around the course and then out of the exit doorway. Both doorways are only a couple of metres apart in the corridor, so parents can easily watch their children no matter which way they choose to run. Due to the nature of this play section, with older children racing around it, babies and small toddlers should not use it.The entrance and exit are designed to block the path of the smallest children but they will always find a way, so parents are asked to be vigilant with any under-2s.
  • Padded Cabin- This area is situated along the corridor, just past the Assault Course area. It’s basically a purpose-built inflatable, designed to fit exactly into the small room, so it feels like a padded room. It’s a great little space for children to ‘hide’, but parents can easily see them by popping their head through the doorway, as there’s a viewing panel in the internal wall. It’s a small space (with regard to floor area: it has adult head-height), which will only fit 4 or 5 children at once but because it’s completely padded and enclosed it’s perfectly safe. The doorway looks tight but because it’s a soft inflatable it’s actually quite easy to get in and out, even for larger adults trying to get their children at leaving time. This area is suitable for any age but during busier times parents should be vigilant with toddlers.
  • Projector Room-This is a darkened space with a fantastic interactive projector equipped with 23 different games on a continual, automatic loop; guaranteed to keep your children busy for hours!  It is, in effect, just a giant tablet on the floor that can be played by multiple children at once.Suitable for any age group but, as with most areas children should be supervised during busier times, especially older children who may try to hog the floor, because once they start playing, they won’t want to stop!
  • Sisyfox Room- A hugely innovative a fun game, ‘Sisyfox’ offers children various game options via an intuitive menu and everything is controlled with a large exercise ball! So it’s all the fun of computer games combined with physical action to keep your children moving even when they don’t realise they are.
  • ‘Big Blue Blocks’ Room- These are specialist, large building blocks designed to really inspire and invigorate your child’s brain and help them to develop many mental and physical skills. But best of all, children love them!

COURTYARD: Unlike many indoor play centres of our size, the venue has a fantastic outdoor courtyard. Accessed from the main room, our courtyard gets sunshine almost all day long, has a padded safety floor and patio seating. They also have a large chalk board right across the back wall for children to express their artistic imaginations and a disco bouncy castle in one corner to add that extra little bit of excitement.

Private Hire and Parties:

The venue now has a two-hour slot each day dedicated to private sessions only, which you can use for any reason. You will have the whole centre for just your own group, it will be closed to the public. You pay a fixed price for the slot, regardless of how many people you’re inviting (up to our centre capacity obviously)*, which makes it superb value. The normal slot time for private hire is 4-6pm, Weds – Sun

The Private sessions are priced differently dependent on whether it’s a weekday afternoon (Weds & Thurs) or weekend (Fri – Sun). The booking calendar applies the price automatically based on the date you select.  Private sessions are bookable up to a year in advance but the bookings will close if the session is less than 12 days away. If you’d like a last-minute private booking (less than 12 days notice) please contact to check availability.  During busier periods our standard play session, 3.30 – 5.30pm, will be reinstated.

Remember, it’s a fixed price for the session regardless of how many guests you invite, and you can use the session however you wish. Most bookings will be for a private party, so just let them know how many children you expect and theywill set up the relevant number of party tables and chairs. You can decorate the party room as you wish and you are allowed to bring your own party food on a private booking but only for the celebrations once sat at the party tables, as our cafe will remain open throughoutBut it’s not just suitable for parties; maybe you’d like an after-school private play session for your child and their classmates, with all parents sharing the cost (making it potentially cheaper than a normal session)? Or a large family gathering? Or a private play session for your playgroup or work colleagues and their families? All our normal rules apply and our cafe is open as normal.

Address: 20 Priory Road, Wells, Somerset and Bristol, BA5 1SY, England

Post Code: BA5 1SY

Council: Wells

County: Somerset and Bristol

Directions:
Easy to find, located in what-used-to-be the old tax office on Priory Rd (most recently the EMI club). See instructions below, dependent on which direction you’re coming from:

If you’re coming from the North (Bristol):
At the first main traffic lights when you get to Wells, take the left-hand lane down New St. At the mini-roundabout, bear right (second exit) and then at the next traffic lights turn left, into Sadler St which leads onto the High St. Come down the High St and then at the bottom, after the road bends to the left, stay in the left hand lane and carry straight on. At the ‘T’ junction on the corner opposite Kudos nightclub, go straight over and the venue is approx 150 metres on the right, just after The Quarterjack pub (Wetherspoons).

If you’re coming from the South (Glastonbury):
When you get to Wells, at the main ‘Tincknells’ roundabout, stay in the right-hand lane and go straight over the roundabout. That’s Priory Rd and we’re approx 150 metres on the left, just after Homechime retirement flats.

If you’re coming from the East (Shepton Mallet):
When you get to Wells, at the main ‘Tincknells’ roundabout go right (3rd exit). That’s Priory Rd and we’re approx 150 metres on the left, just after Homechime retirement flats.

If you’re coming from the West (Cheddar/M5):
At the first main set of traffic lights after reaching Wells, turn right onto Strawberry Way. At the next traffic lights go straight on and then when you get to the roundabout, turn left. That’s Priory Rd and the venue is approx 150 metres on the left, just after Homechime retirement flats.

Car Parks: There are various car parks within easy walking distance, including one right next door. They are, in order of distance from the venue:

Behind Wetherspoons (right next door to the venue):
Public Pay & Display: The cheapest (paid) car park in town.

At the rear of Kudos (2 mins walk):
Private Pay & Display: This is just the other side of Wetherspoons.

Beside the bus station (3 mins walk):
Public Pay & Display. This is just around the corner from Kudos. Please note, the bus station and bus depot are different places. This is the station, where the buses drop you off. The venue is right next door to the depot, where the buses park overnight and/or are repaired.

Behind The Good Earth cafe (4 mins walk):
Private Pay & Display. This adjoins the bus station car park and you can drive between the two, but one is public and one is private, so please make sure you use the correct ticket machine!!

Morrisons supermarket (approx 5 mins walk):
Up to 3 hours free. You can either walk out of the main exit and along the main road, or walk out of the top of their car park onto Southover (see Google map below). Please note: visitors to Wells can officially use Morrisons car park, up to the time limit imposed, as it was part of their original planning-approval conditions.

Tucker St (approx 5 mins walk):
Public Pay & Display. This is opposite Halfords, just off Strawberry way. Although a little further than the others, it is often overlooked so may have spaces on busy days. Walk out of the main (vehicle) exit and turn right along West St, then when the road starts to turn right into the housing estate, carry on straight ahead (with the retirement homes on your left). Keep walking until you get to the ‘T’ junction with Priory Rd, turn left and we’re approx 100 metres on the left.
