Description

The Treehouse Board Game Café is Sheffield’s first dedicated board game café, offering a friendly and welcoming space for gamers of all experience levels. It combines social gaming with great food and drinks, making it ideal for relaxed meet-ups and longer gaming sessions. Located just outside the city centre, it’s a unique venue for both casual visitors and regular gamers.

The café features a library of over 800 board games, with expert staff available to recommend games and explain the rules. Activities include tabletop board gaming, a Gamer’s Academy, and roleplaying game (RPG) sessions run by professional game moderators. Alongside gaming, visitors can enjoy craft beer, cocktails, milkshakes, barista-style coffee, and a café-style food menu using local suppliers.

There is a games cover charge of £2.50 per person per hour, giving unlimited access to the games library during your visit. Children under five play for free, under-16s pay half price, and a 1-year Treehouse membership costs £45, offering discounted cover and extra perks.

The Treehouse offers a relaxed and social experience that’s different from traditional cafés or entertainment venues. Its huge games library and knowledgeable staff make it easy for anyone to get involved. It’s a great place to socialise, discover new games, and enjoy food, drinks, and gaming all in one space.

The Treehouse is located just outside Sheffield city centre on Boston Street off London Road. Find us on the corner between The Forge Student Village and the New Era development, just over the road from the entrance to Aldi’s car park. We are roughly a 15 minute walk from Sheffield station, or a five minute walk from the bus stops at the bottom of the Moor near the indoor market.

If you’re travelling by car, the following parking options are available:

  • Some on-street parking is available outside the cafe on Boston Street. It’s usually pay & display with a maximum stay of two hours, but is free and unlimited after 6.30pm and all day on Sundays. There’s also some pay & display parking on Denby Street behind the café, which has a maximum stay of four hours.
  • There is an underground public car park just across the road from The Treehouse at New Era square. The vehicle entrance is on Arley Street (turn right immediately after passing the cafe and you’ll see the entrance on the left). Once you’ve parked, you can walk back out the way you drove in using the cycle entrance which has a push button to exit, and this is the fastest way to get to the Treehouse. However, you can’t get back in again this way - the pedestrian entrance to the car park is across the New Era plaza and is quite hard to spot.
