There’s also an art studio, sports activities like yoga, and Basecamp – a space to meet new people, build communication skills and explore new opportunities. Children can join free play sessions filled with sensory toys, music, crafts and lights.

Entry is completely free, making it accessible to all. Room hire is available for events, parties, training sessions and community gatherings.

Selly Oak Library: Selly Oak Library is inside Sense TouchBase Pears, next to our café. Accessible via the Bristol Road entrance, the newly relocated library is open every Monday and Saturday between 9am and 4pm. Our friendly library assistant will help you choose and borrow your favourite books but you can also use the self service kiosk. Selly Oak Library is inside Sense TouchBase Pears, next to our café.
Basecamp: Basecamp isn’t just a place to spend your day, it’s a place full of new opportunities. Basecamp is the perfect space to develop your communication skills, express yourself your way, meet new people and try new things. Play sessions: Our children’s play service, Connect and Play, offers a range of free sessions at Sense TouchBase Pears and within the community in Birmingham to support children with complex disabilities. Laura, Kelly and the rest of the team will help your family develop, communicate and connect in our children’s studio, a fun, safe environment full of sensory toys, musical instruments, books, crafts and lights!

The Buzz is the perfect place for activities needing a little more space like fitness sessions, large scale training events, public meetings, social events and parties, away days and community events. The Buzz is our largest space (17m x 12m) and includes:

By Car: Secure parking is available at Sense TouchBase Pears including spaces for parents and for blue badge holders. Our car park is behind the building and is accessed by Selly Wharf, entry is controlled by barriers and an intercom system.
By Bus: Sense TouchBase Pears can be reached by a number of bus services that stop nearby on the Bristol Road. The 61 and 63 buses both stop on Elliot Road and at Selly Oak train station and run roughly every ten minutes throughout the day.
By Train: Selly Oak Train station is a two minute walk away from Sense TouchBase Pears and operates regular services in the city centre. Trains to Birmingham New Street run four times an hour on weekdays with the journey time being roughly ten minutes. Services to Bromsgrove, Redditch and Lichfield also pass through the station.
