Treasurer's House, York tucked behind York Minster, Treasurer’s House is not as it first appears. In 1897 it was bought by Frank Green, the grandson of a wealthy industrialist, and by 1900 he had transformed it at great speed into an elaborately decorated town house, ready for the visit of Edward VII. Join a tour to hear about Frank Green’s life and find out how he saved Treasurer’s House and changed it into the grand show home we see today.

The award-winning garden is an oasis of calm, offering unrivalled views of York Minster, making it an ideal place to relax or head downstairs to the cafe.   • Cycling: Public cycle parking is located approx. 100m away on College Street next to the National Trust shop. Treasurer’s House is located in the city centre, on Minster Yard right next to York Minster. York is relatively flat with lots of cycle routes so cycling is a great way to visit. It’s also not far from National Cycle Network routes 65 and the spectacular Way of the Roses coast to coast cycle route that travels through both the red rose county of Lancashire and the white rose county of Yorkshire.
