  • Take an audio tour behind the scenes: Pick up a free audio guide and bring Witley Court to life with stories of past residents. Re-live the extravagant lifestyle of the Foley and Dudley families who owned this classic example of a great Victorian country house. 
  • Enjoy Glorious Gardens: Wander through the intricately designed parterres, vibrant flower beds, ornate terraces and pavilions which make up the magnificently landscaped gardens of Witley Court. 
  • Discover New Artwork: Fountain | 1937: Don't miss the temporary art installation by Keith Harrison which retells the remarkable story of Witley Court and Gardens, from the perspective of the working class miners and steelworkers of Staffordshire employed by Witley’s 19th century owners, the Earls of Dudley.
  • Play in the Wilderness Play Area: If your kids like to explore, they’ll love the wooden playground at Witley Court, inspired by the surrounding Wilderness Gardens. Can you keep your balance on the wobbly bridge and climb into to the seed pod-shaped treehouse beyond? There’s slides, rope walks, and a scramble net for climbers; dramatic kids can express themselves in the grass-covered amphitheatre; while noisy boys and girls will love the nature-inspired musical instruments.

  • Great Witley Church: Extend your visit and wander over to see Great Witley Church. The parish church of St Michael and All Angels which is attached to Witley Court.
  • Gardens: The grounds at Witley Court extend over 40 acres and include a lake, woodland, wilderness and formal gardens. There are paths throughout and a number of rest stops available.

Facilities

  • Parking: Plenty of free parking for English Heritage members displaying a valid car sticker. Non-members must pay. There are four coach bays. Note there is no off-site parking available.
  • Food And Drink: Hot and cold drinks are available in the visitor centre. Light refreshments are also available, including crisps, chocolate and flapjacks. When the sun’s shining (and sometimes when it’s not) keep an eye out for our Ice Cream Van. There is an independent tearoom located next to the house which is open daily from April to October. 
  • Toilets: Male, female and disabled toilets (with baby-changing facilities) are located next to the visitor centre. Please be aware that there are no facilities at the court.
  • Dogs: Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
