Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo is an indoor, tropical butterfly farm where you can walk among exotic butterflies from around the world. It offers a fascinating look at the complete life cycle of butterflies – from egg to caterpillar, chrysalis, and butterfly. Located in the Wye Valley between Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye, it is a delightful destination for nature lovers and families.

You can explore the Butterfly Zoo and observe live butterflies flying freely around you. The venue also includes a Roman ruin-themed 12-hole miniature golf course and the famous Jubilee Maze with over a kilometre of hedge. A nature reserve, shop with butterfly-themed gifts, and nearby café and picnic areas add to the experience.

Tickets are priced at £6.75 for adults, £4.75 for children, £5.25 for concessions, and infants can enter for free. Paid parking is available onsite.

  • Butterfly Zoo: Walk with butterflies from around the world. Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo is indoors, it’s tropical and it’s teeming with exotic butterflies. Living butterflies fly around as you discover their fascinating lives in close-up.
  • Miniature Golf: A twelve-hole roman ruin fantasy set in spectacular scenery in the Wye Valley. An outstanding outdoor course with all-weather artificial-turf fairways. The design unites a picturesque roman ruin theme, retro minigolf style and adventure golf features for ultimate playability for all ages.
  • Maze: The Jubilee Maze is our traditional hedge maze, with a romantic temple and over a kilometre of hedge built by Lindsay and Edward Heyes in 1977. Much loved by over a million visitors, the maze was severely flooded in 2020.

  • By Bus: From the Whitchurch, Crown Hotel/Tower Stores bus stop walk over the bridge over the A40 towards Symonds Yat West for 100 yards to the roundabout; From the Whitchurch, Roundabout/School bus stop walk south along the B4164 towards Symonds Yat West for 150 yards, then turn left into the Wye Valley Visitor Centre.
  • By Car: Take the A40 between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. Exit the A40 at Whitchurch. Turn south onto the B4164 towards Symonds Yat West for 100 yards. At the roundabout take the B4164 south towards Symonds Yat West. After 150 yards turn left into our car park.
