Beaudesert Park offers a high achieving, academically aspiring education, coupled with a flexible approach to after school care and boarding. The happy family atmosphere, which upholds traditional standards, is clearly evident. Beaudesert is independent of any senior school and parents and children are given unbiased support to help them choose and prepare for their next stage of education. The purposeful, nurturing and supportive environment ensures children leave having gained not only an outstanding all-encompassing education but also confidence, friendships and memories which will last a lifetime. In all that children learn and experience while at Beaudesert they want them to be purposeful and ambitious, encouraging them to take risks, stretch themselves and move out of their comfort zone. There should be no limit to their expectations and hopes. The children are growing up in a world where their strength of character is likely to be more important than ever before, so finding opportunities for children at Beaudesert to develop courage, confidence, resilience, independence and individuality is as important as anything else they do
Pre Prep
Belonging to this amazing school brings me a profound sense of pride and gratitude. Pre-prep Beaudesertians enjoy a wide range of exceptional opportunities – including superb teachers, a broad and balanced curriculum including multiple specialisms, abundant outdoor learning, connection to nature and a truly magical setting. Building on the foundations of the academic aspirations, our pastoral care, aided by wonderfully caring teachers and well-proportioned class sizes, allows for deep and nurturing relationships which is a truly special feature of Beaudesert Pre-prep. Working closely with the dedicated parent community, they prepare children for a future in which they will be confident, knowledgeable, healthy and kind.
Nursery
Beaudesert Park Nursery provides child-centred learning in a happy and friendly environment, bringing out the best in each child. The Nursery offers modern but comfortable facilities, including its very own creative room, free-flow ‘inside-outside’ classrooms, ‘Beaudesert Cottage’ role play zone and access to the School’s Forest School. With boys and girls joining the Nursery from age 3, it is the perfect introduction to life at Beaudesert.
Reception
In Reception, they aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for your child based on the recommendations of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The curriculum supports your child in seven key areas of their development: Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Desig. The children follow a synthetic phonic scheme and Literacy activities lay the foundations for listening, talking, reading and writing. Mathematical activities include calculating; identifying patterns and sequences; shape; sorting; information handling and problem solving. The majority of the Reception curriculum is facilitated through play with a variety of resources. French is also introduced in Reception and continues throughout the School.
Years 1 and 2
In addition to the National Curriculum laid down for these years, Beaudesert is able, through active learning in a supportive environment, to provide opportunities for your child to acquire knowledge and understanding across all areas of school life. Years 1 & 2 also support children in developing positive attitudes and sound values. This, in turn, sets the foundations for continuing into the Prep school, ready for Common Entrance and beyond. There are also opportunities for parents to join us School for events such as class assemblies, drama and musical performances.
Forest School
As Beaudesert is set in the most beautiful location, high in the Cotswolds and surrounded natural woodland, they have the own Forest School. All the children, from Nursery to Year 2 explore and experience the natural world through practical activities in all seasons. Children grow in confidence and self-esteem and these benefits have positive effects on all areas of a child’s life and learning.Forest School allows children to enjoy an outdoor education within a safe and stimulating environment, and gives children the opportunity to take risks, make choices, and initiate learning themselves. All activities are child led and are implemented with the support of our two qualified Level 3 Forest School Leaders.
Clubs and Activities
At every stage of their education, children at Beaudesert are encouraged to participate in the wide range of activities available to them outside the classroom environment. They offer an impressive range of extra-curricular activities in the Pre-prep, including Judo and Ballet in Reception. In addition to those, children in Years 1 and 2 can do Gymnastics, Jewellery, Gardening, Construction, Hama Beads, Just Dance, French, Art and much more. In Year 2, children can also take up individual music tuition. All these activities are an important part of the School’s philosophy of educating the whole child and take place during lunch break and after school. Each class also perform their own class assembly once a term and a year group drama production annually.
Performing Arts Center
The Performing Arts Centre was completed in the summer of 2015. The space is used daily by children across the School for music, drama and dance lessons, charity events, assemblies and performances. The building itself is designed to blend into its surroundings as seamlessly as possible, made of a fusion of Cotswold stone and wood. A ‘living wall’ of plants faces Minchinhampton Common while vertical timbers of differing lengths reflect the trunks and canopy of the surrounding trees. The entire project is acutely energy-efficient by courtesy of ‘breathability’ instead of air conditioning and the maximising of natural light.
