The Nest Pre-school
From the term after your child turns three years old they will be eligible to join The Nest. The Nest is part of the Pre-Prep and is located within the Pre-Prep building, benefitting from all of its wonderful space and specialist facilities and enabling us to provide a seamless transition into Reception when the time comes. The Nest classroom has benefitted from a top to toe refurbishment, including adding ‘en-suite’ washroom facilities and its own free flow access to a secure, all weather play area. It is large, bright and spacious and equipped with all of the resources to meet the needs of your child. The Nest provides children with an exciting and broad curriculum, taught by a qualified teacher, supported by experienced Teaching Assistants and enhanced by specialist staff. The aim is to know and nurture each and every child, ensuring that they have the highest standards of care and education, enabling them to make the best possible progress from whatever stage of development they are at.
Pre-Prep
The Pre-Prep encompasses children from the Nest (our 3+ class) up to Year Three. They are a self-contained setting with a happy, community feel. They pride themselves on the outstanding pastoral care and individualised provision which seeks not only to meet the needs of each child; but to ensure they are able to grow, personally, socially and emotionally as well as academically.The Pre-Prep feels like a family. The small classes ensure that all of the children are known and nurtured as individuals and the staff are all passionate about providing the level of care that you would provide as a parent at home. Whilst they want to ensure all of our children make the best possible academic progress they can, the offering here is about much more than academics. From their very first days with us, they work hard to ensure each child feels settled and secure within their environment and that they have relationships, both with staff and peers, which make them feel a sense of confidence and belonging.
Prep
The Prep Department incorporates Years 4 to 8, and is housed principally in the magnificent Pugin Mansion at the centre of our 90 acre estate. Pupils join them into Prep from both the Pre-Prep department, and schools across the region and beyond, and all new arrivals (and their parents!) are carefully supported and guided as they settle into their new routines.They structure the Prep department to ensure that the changing needs of the children are met as they progress up the school. The Pastoral team of tutors is led by our Assistant Head Pastoral, Mrs Everton and each department is led by an experienced member of staff who keeps an overview of each child’s progress and happiness, in partnership with form tutors and house parents.

Outdoors
Anyone who takes children outside regularly sees the enjoyment, sense of wonder and excitement that is generated when children actively engage with their environment. Children need places to explore, experiment, discover, be active and healthy, and to develop their physical capabilities.Outdoor Learning in an integral and important part of our curriculum for every year group and is a key vehicle for developing the children’s character skills. We are incredibly lucky to have access to the wonderful outdoor classroom ‘The Wild Gardens’ as well as the Organic Garden, and acres of other woodland and parkland areas.
Learning Support
The Learning Development department at Bilton Grange aims to give those pupils with mild learning difficulties the opportunity to reach their full potential. Every child is different and will have different needs– some may need an intensive burst of support with no further intervention, others may need longer term ongoing support, perhaps involving other outside experts.With a team of experienced TAs and specialist 1:1 teachers, the Learning Development Department have a broad range of resources available to support children needing extra intervention, and this can be delivered in different ways. The Learning Development Department currently offers in-class TA support for core subjects, literacy enrichment classes as part of the Saturday enrichment programme, small group withdrawal lessons in lieu of Classics and 1:1 lessons.
