Brackenfield School is Independent Primary school in North Yorkshire for kids aged 2 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Founded in 1977, they have been Harrogate’s Prep school for over 40 years. This is long enough for our school to witness the circle of life! They are now welcoming parents who were once pupils here themselves. Margie Sutcliffe, the founding Head, established a family ethos at Brackenfield that now lives on in perpetuity. More than anything else, children are happy and cared for here; we are an extended family.Curriculum & Learning, Activities, Outdoor Learning and Community are the four areas of a powerful mission we use to focus our children’s achievements. The actions, behaviours and attitudes are underpinned by the core values of Kindness, Honesty, Respect, Confidence, Initiative and Perseverance. As a result, children are not only academically able, they are also confident and caring individuals who become proud ambassadors for their school and their community.

Curriculum
At Brackenfield School, they aim to provide opportunities for the development of the whole child inside and outside the classroom. In addition to the full range of academic subjects in accordance with the National Curriculum, they offer every child the opportunity to experience a broad range of teaching and challenging environments in many extra-curricular areas. They operate a varied curriculum which ties together elements of many different subjects under a theme, encouraging children to develop a love of learning and a thirst for knowledge. This varied curriculum, with teaching input from music, art, drama and sports specialists, allows all the children the opportunity to shine. Positivity in these areas creates a balanced scope of learning and supports progression in the rest of the curriculum.

Extra Curricular Activities
They have an extensive Extra Curricular Activity program at Brackenfield tailored to children's interests. They want the pupils to grow and develop with a variety of interests and experiences that will bring richness to their already broad curriculum. The wide-ranging extra curricular activity clubs allows pupils to pursue interests with confidence and perseverance.
Music
Music is led by the Musical Director, Helen Leaf, who not only teaches weekly lessons from Nursery upwards but also writes and composes many of our productions and musical numbers. Junior choir is available each week for those children who would like to participate. Our Junior Choir have been honoured to perform in community events like the Mayor's Christmas Carol Concert, Remembrance Day events at Ripon Catherdral and The Big School Sing for Harrogate's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. We also perform for local residents at Hampden House & Manor House care homes.
