They are a Hertfordshire maintained special school catering for the educational needs of students in the Early Years Foundation Stage, KS1,2,3 and 4 plus the 6th Form. All our students have Severe or Profound Learning Difficulties, in addition to which many have a complex medical, physical or sensory impairment; autism or speech, language and communication needs. We are able to provide a highly individualized curriculum for each of our students which is designed and delivered in consultation with parents and other professional agencies.

LOWER SCHOOL - EYFS CORE OFFER
They enable the students to build secure trusting relationships with staff so they feel happy, settled and confident to explore and learn at school. We promote a ‘can do’ attitude and aim to instil confidence in our children to try new things. They celebrate individuality; we gain a deep understanding of each child, we discover our students’ individual likes, strengths, and areas for development.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Students will take ownership of learning by consolidating key skills that contribute to independence as teenagers and young adults within their community. They will make positive contributions by going to the shops, café or being part of other community groups and enjoyable activities. They will develop hobbies and know how to communicate what they enjoy.
UPPER SCHOOL
The aim for the Upper School department is for all students to become independent learners, to be able to communicate basic wants or needs, make choices or access local amenities independently and to develop lifelong interests / hobbies. The development of skills such as communication, interaction, thinking and exploring will underpin all learning.
ADULTHOOD (Years 7-14)
At Breakspeare School we believe that Preparing for Adulthood and Work Related Education and Information, Advice and Guidance make a major contribution to preparing our students for the opportunities and experiences throughout life.
