Christian Fellowship School

Description

Christian Fellowship School is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 4 to 16 (Gender - 4 to 16 )

The story of Christian Fellowship School is an ongoing adventure of discovery, growth and dedication. The school was started by a pioneering group of parents and teachers who had a passion to provide Christian families with a vision for education, where Christ-centred living is at the heart of everything. The school represents a continuing development of the principles and concepts that CFS was founded upon. All schools have some basis for their interpretation of life and education — at CFS you will find us refreshingly open about the faith basis from which they work. They are a learning community, where pupils, teaching staff and parents walk hand-in-hand with God, supporting each other to enable every member of the community to thrive. Our school includes families from a diverse range of churches and cultures but identifies closely with the Evangelical Alliance Statement of Faith.

Facilities

Lower School
The Lower School provides a nurturing community for children to explore their world, build relationships and develop their faith. The teachers play the role of leaders and guides, ensuring that every child knows and recognises God’s love in everything they do. They use the metaphor of a shepherd to define this teaching style. The Lower School curriculum reflects the God-given curiosity, spontaneity and joy of childhood — they see these years as the most formative. Children are taught to know God’s character, and to develop and explore their own abilities so that they grow in wisdom as Jesus did. The values of a Christian family are reinforced and close involvement of parents in classroom life is encouraged.

Middle School
The Middle School plays a vital role in helping our children develop a strong identity and instil a practice of Christ-centred thinking. The school provides children with a space to explore and discover in bright and inspiring classrooms as well as well-equipped science laboratories, art and textile rooms, and an IT room.At this stage in a young person’s life, it is important to provide an understanding of the world around them with God at the centre, and an appreciation of what this might mean for them. As soon as they are able to read confidently, the Bible becomes a central part of our teaching — encouraging them to see their studies and personal development through God’s eyes in the light of Biblical truths. Children will begin to recognise and understand their God-given gifts and talents, and are encouraged to pursue those aspects that make them unique. Extended learning and challenge are available for high achievers to deepen their understanding of each subject and nurture them on their learning journey.

Upper School
Building on a knowledge of Christ and His purposes, the years to GCSE include the development of critical thinking skills, leadership and a sense of purpose in life. At this stage, the teachers play a key role in mentoring students to become positive role models, representing the school and contributing to society locally and globally. In Upper School, they recognise the importance of students taking increasing responsibility for their learning as they grow into young adults. They encourage open questions to nurture and develop their own aspirations, convictions and purpose. Students are prepared for a life led by Christ in four key ways: a study of worldviews and religions, a balanced GCSE programme that encourages consistent high achievement, an innovative vocational programme (Equipped to Serve), and bespoke opportunities for students to excel in their individual talents.

Parent & Toddlers
Giving children and families the best introduction to the CFS community. PIPs is our informal parent-led pre-school group for those looking forward to their children’s entry into Reception. It is an ideal environment of creative fun through which to explore joining the CFS community and to start building peer relationships for children and parents.

Prayer & Thanksgiving
Prayer is vital to the work of CFS and they invite all of friends and members of our community to partner with us in prayer on a regular basis.  If you would like to hear about the latest prayer points, please visit this page for updates. They give thanks for the hard work of last year’s Year 11 who achieved very pleasing results in their GCSE exams in the summer. They are delighted that all of them achieved the grades they need to enrol at one of their sixth form college or school choices to do A level, BTEC or other courses. Please continue to pray for the former pupils as they become established in a new environment.
