Description

Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School is leading State Secondary school in Grantham. This is a Selective school for kids age 11 to 18 years. Gender - Girls

At Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School, we pride ourselves on the confident, well-educated and accomplished young women that graduate each year. They have a consistent record of academic excellence at the highest levels, achieved in an environment that encourages our students to grow and mature into capable, confident adults.   The school motto, when translated from Latin reads, From This Place Draw True Inspiration.  Day-to-day, this means we hope that all members of our school community will inspire, challenge, and achieve well as they take part in all that KGGS has to offer. They are ambitious for all our learners. Our curriculum is knowledge-based to inspire our students, it is rich and ambitious to challenge them; and it is engaging and broad to enable them to achieve well.

Facilities

The curriculum is coherent and carefully structured. Detailed planning ensures the Core Threads - the knowledge and skills - in each subject and area of the curriculum build and connect as a student progresses through the school. Programmes of Study take students to timely common assessments, and ambitious end-points, careers, and destinations.

The curriculum is implemented by subject-specialists who are passionate about their academic disciplines; and about Teaching and Learning. Lessons are well-sequenced and lesson aims made explicit and clear, to ensure the consolidation, recall, and mastery of core skills and knowledge. In-lesson Assessment-for-Learning Activities enable staff to monitor student progress regularly.

Pedagogy is inclusive at KGGS to ensure all our learners thrive. Monitoring of the progress of all students is rigorous. Intervention for those identified as at risk of underachieving is coordinated; and support is offered to students requiring additional catch-up, encouragement, or guidance.

Features

Things to note

SEN & Disability
The school aims to ensure all students, including pupils with SEND, can access a full, broad and balanced curriculum. KGGS ensures provision for SEN across the school and lessons as part of its quality assurance process. Reasonable adjustments and support are based on a student's need. All class teachers will be aware of the requirements of their pupils and will make reasonable adjustments in their teaching in order to remove barriers to learning. We make every effort to ensure high quality differentiated teaching in our classrooms for all our pupils. Tutoring and mentoring from a member of staff may also be available depending upon need.

Clubs
School clubs run every lunchtime in school. Many departments run support sessions for their subject, but there are many other clubs that take place, including the debating society, cinema club, culture club, creative writing club, origami club, chess club and many others.\

Music
Musical talent can find an outlet in a variety of extra-curricular activities. The school has choirs, instrumental groups, a wind band and a full orchestra. Many performances and recitals by individuals and groups are given throughout the year, including at least two major concerts.

Drama
Interest in drama and the theatre is encouraged through the organisation of a wide range of theatre visits and the use of Theatre in Education groups. Those who wish to participate in performance also have the opportunity to join after school Drama Clubs, be involved in the school's annual production, or offer items for variety shows.
