Features
Things to note
Henrys has a vibrant, busy music department with a full programme of performances, lessons, trips, masterclasses, outreach projects, and tours. In the past year, they have put on a full production of Les misérables, performed to an audience of over 1000 in the Butterworth Hall, had four additional full school concerts, a Rock School concert, year group recitals, and chamber concerts.
For all boys and girls within the school there is a wealth of team sporting activities, including rugby, hockey, cricket, netball and athletics. In addition we also offer choices such as volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, tennis, table tennis, badminton, rock climbing, golf, rounders, squash, orienteering, dance, health-related fitness, and step-aerobics.
Each year they perform two productions, a senior performance in the Autumn Term and a lower school performance in the Summer Term. Each year, one of the performances is a play and the other is a musical, created collaboratively with Music department.
Beyond the visual arts curriculum itself they have co-curricular activities, such as painting, textiles, printing and photography. They also have clubs for different year groups, which are themed, such as the Christmas Decorations made by Year 7 or the Year 9 Photo Booth for the PA Christmas Fayre.
Robotics takes place at lunchtime, requiring high levels of commitment and dedication. There are two strands to the club, VEX IQ and VEX VRC. The VRC is aimed at the older pupils and involves building large robots in metal to complete the game challenges to score points against other robots.
The School’s trips calendar provides a rich variety of opportunities for pupils to participate in a wide range of cultural experiences and outdoor adventure throughout their time at Henry’s. Every department offers a trip that extends the pupils’ educational and personal horizons.
The Admissions team are on hand to answer any questions you may have and they look forward to welcoming you into school. They welcome applications from pupils of all ages.
