Kings House Moorlands is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 4 to 13 (Gender - 4 to 13 )
They are a small school but one with big ambitions and a strong ethos. The individual matters at Moorlands and the expectation is that every child will flourish. They believe this is a special place in which young people can grow, explore, learn and reach their full potential.Schools must never stand still. We are always looking to improve what we do and to make the most of the latest methods. We are never interested in innovation for its own sake – the old ways are often still the best – but we would always seek to lead the way in how and what we teach.

Life skills
The world is changing fast and is transforming our lives at an ever-quickening pace. Even today, raw academic skills alone are not enough to enable pupils to succeed in life, and this will be even more so in tomorrow’s world. It is therefore essential that children are taught a range of Life Skills at an early age, to give them the tools and techniques to successfully cope with the challenges and obstacles they will inevitably encounter in life. These tools will help in developing children’s character, self-confidence, self-reliance, self reflection, determination and sense of fair play. They include skills such as public speaking, leadership skills, analytical skills, time management, critical thinking, social skills, as well as an underpinning knowledge about finance, foreign languages and cultures, current affairs and our own institutions.
Debating and Public speaking
The ability to debate, discuss and communicate effectively with others is one of the most vital of skills. Debating helps develop critical thinking and reasoning skills and enables you to analyse evidence, articulate your own case and understand the views of others. As Albert Einstein once said, ‘if you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough’. Debating and public speaking also helps children think on their feet and to identify loopholes in a case, proposition or argument, vital skills in the legal profession for example.
Leadership Skills
Leadership skills are a vital ingredient in the formula for success. Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, has defined leadership as, “the capacity to translate vision into reality and the ability to carry others with you”.They aim to help pupils develop these skills, to understand their strengths and weaknesses, communicate information and ideas, build and mend relationships, develop problem solving skills and work successfully as part of team.Pupils are encouraged and given opportunities to take on responsibility and leadership roles. This might be through the elected School Council, the school magazine, or as a Class Monitor, Junior or Senior Prefect or House Captain. Every year at Prize Giving a Head Boy and Head Girl are appointed.
