Kingshott School

Description

Kingshott School is a co-educational Prep School, open to pupils between the ages of 3 and 13 irrespective of gender, race, religion, culture, sexual orientation or disability.

Education is both a personal and a collective journey of development, self-discovery and ambition. At Kingshott they welcome every child’s unique character and approach to learning. There is no ‘one size fits all’ education. The teachers and wider staff see all our pupils as individuals each with their own unique experiences and personalities to offer. At the core of every decision we make, lies pupil development and happiness. They aim for all our children to be confident, secure and relaxed whilst ambitious for both their own development and that of their peers, too. The modern facilities, set within 23 acres on the edge of Hitchin, inspire the staff and children alike to strive for the best. The emphasis on a rounded education ensures the children experience the very best teaching available, whether it be through the academic subjects or our broad and comprehensive curriculum. The Sports Hall is regularly converted into a theatre to enable whole school productions – most recently a 400 strong cast of ‘The Lion King’.

Pre Prep
There is always so much to learn! Every child is unique and finding out what makes them smile is the most important job. From day one the entire team here at Kingshott are focused on building a caring, positive and happy environment for each and every child. That’s the class teachers, the specialist teachers, the support staff, the kitchen team right through to those who run after school clubs – the whole Kingshott community! They may still be little, but challenging and inspiring every child is key to keeping them happy and helping them develop. Children love to be active and explore and this is how they make sense of the world around them. Play is a huge part of what they do but they also use the mornings for the more structured element of a Kingshott education. Every child is encouraged to try their hardest and resilience is something we actively work on… if you don’t get it right straight away, that’s ok, have another try!

Prep
The small classes provide a happy, caring and friendly environment where the children flourish. They develop both academically as they gain a deeper level of knowledge and understanding in each subject but also as individuals as they explore more opportunities throughout the school. Good behaviour and conduct, along with academic success and personal development are regularly celebrated in the Prep School assemblies. As children progress through the Prep School, they are encouraged to become more independent, building relationships with specialist subject teachers and taking more responsibility for their own organisation as they approach the secondary stage of their education.
