Maidstone Grammar School for Girls is leading State Secondary school in Maidstone. This is a Selective school for kids age 11 to 18 years. Gender - Girls
Maidstone Grammar School for Girls, or ‘MGGS’, as it is more often known, has a strong community spirit which is underpinned by our belief that the happiness of all our students is key to enabling them to succeed. We have been providing an academic education for girls (and boys in the Sixth Form) from the town of Maidstone, and its surrounding area for over 130 years.
Years 7-9
Year 7, 8 and 9 are extremely important in ensuring that our students develop a wide range of skills and experiences to become successful learners who enjoy learning while making excellent progress. Students will learn to use their thinking skills effectively to be able to work independently in a scholarly way. We have a holistic approach at MGGS, personal development is an important part of our ethos. We aim to help all of our students become confident individuals who are able to lead safe, healthy and fulfilling lives and who are capable of leading others.
Years 10-11
At MGGS, Year 10 and 11 is an exciting time in our students education because it is the first that time they will have been given the opportunity to choose some of the courses that they would like to follow. However, they are also two extremely important years as they are the time for studying towards the GCSE public examinations. There is of course always a balance and we will maintain our focus on extra-curricular enrichment and broader learning, through arts, sports, our enrichment programme, trips, lectures, focus days and much more.
Sixth Form
Maidstone Grammar School for Girls is a forward thinking community with a tradition of excellence, and we value academic rigour. As an Advanced Thinking School with a strong emphasis on developing a positive mindset, we actively promote the resilient attitude and higher level thinking required for Sixth Form study, particularly relevant to the synoptic nature of the linear A Level courses, and beyond. MGGS students are proud to continue the legacy of the many exceptional students who have gone before them.
Google leading slides
Maidstone Grammar School for Girls has been awarded the Google ‘Leading Light’ status. This recognises the successful implementation and adoption of G Suite (Google for Education) tools and technology across all aspects of the school, becoming an essential part of the school culture and day to day academic life. G Suite is the ‘go to’ tool, improving students’ independent learning skills, increasing the communication and feedback between students and teachers and making learning more fun!
