Description

North London Collegiate School is a top independent day school for girls aged 4-18. Since it's founding in 1850, generations of girls have received an ambitious academic education and formed a bond with NLCS, which lasts forever. They provide a carefully judged blend of support and challenge, a friendly and warm atmosphere, glorious facilities and extensive extra-curricular activities.

Facilities

  • With extensive playing fields and array of sports facilities located on the 30 acre site, sporting life flourishes at North London.There are beautiful tennis courts set in historic gardens, games pitches and a track bordered by an ancient Lime Avenue, and an all-weather pitch for netball, lacrosse and football.
  • The sports hall has a semi sprung floor and can accommodate four badminton courts, two table tennis tables and allows a range of other sports including; basketball, 6-a-side football, netball and volleyball. The hall has also been recently upgraded with LED lighting and a brand new climbing wall.
  • Dance studio is called the Alexander room. It boasts a semi-sprung wooden floor, which allows to host safe and enjoyable fitness classes. All of which are taught by fully qualified instructors.
  • The 25m pool is warm and inviting. The pool is fitted with a UV water treatment system which reduces the number of chemicals that they need to add to the water.

Things to note

  • The School offers a wealth of extra-curricular activities satisfying all interests and curiosities, and enabling students to take risks and try out new things. More than 50 clubs and societies, run by the students themselves, take place each week and include subjects from philosophy to climate change, human rights to chess, and dance to literature.   • They offer over 30 overseas trips to many exciting locations. Modern Foreign Languages department runs a historic exchange with the Goethe-Gymnasium in Ludwigsburg, Germany. 
  • All students at every year-level are able to participate in drama at NLCS, either onstage or backstage. There are many opportunities to become involved with drama beyond the curriculum. In addition to the numerous major performances staged every year involving students from across the entire school, drama clubs, studio pieces, Edinburgh Fringe productions and workshops provide the students with more experimental platforms. 
  • At North London Collegiate they aim to provide a broad range of musical opportunities for all students and strive for ambitious music making. Approximately 500 instrumental lessons are taught each week by over 25 distinguished visiting instrumental specialists in purpose-built Music Department.
  • NLCS Drawing School includes facilities for drawing, painting, photography, computer-aided design, print-making, textile design, welding and ceramics. Regular weekend and after-school workshops are held for senior students: these include life drawing, photography and top-up sessions for students wishing to extend class-based projects. 
  • PE plays a significant role in the whole school Mental Health and Wellbeing strategy of every member of the NLCS community participating in some form of regular physical activity.

Fees

For the academic year 2022/23, the fees for studying at North London Collegiate School are:

Registration Fee:

  • £150 for UK applicants
  • £200 overseas applicants

Tuition Fees:

  • Junior School - £6,283 per term
  • Senior School - £7,436 per term

Individual music lessons:

  • £280 per block of 10 lessons

Coaches:

  • £2,364 return coach fare per year (billed termly)
  • £1,892 single coach fare per year (billed termly)

Lunches:

  • £1,023 per year for the Lower and Senior School (billed termly)
  • £868 per year for the First School.
  • Alternatively, students in the Senior School can bring a packed lunch. 

Scholarships

BURSARIES: Since its foundation in 1850, North London Collegiate School has been committed to providing accessible, affordable education for students of ability. To attract able students and to help those who would otherwise be unable to attend a fee-paying school, they offer bursaries and music scholarships to students joining the Senior School.

HANDEL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS: A number of Music Scholarships are awarded at 11+ (for 5 years) and at 16+ on the basis of merit. Candidates must pass the entrance examination and a music audition conducted by the music department to qualify. CLICK HERE for information.
