Admission Details

Lower School – admission into Year 3, 4, 5 or 6: Lower School begins at Key Stage 2 (Year 3). Children in Lower School benefit from access to many of Senior School facilities and expert teaching staff in addition to having their own Form Tutor for each Year Group.  Progress into Year 7 at OLA for Lower School pupils is entrance examination free providing parents and children with a pathway right through to OLA 6th. Find out more about admission into Lower School.

Senior School – admission into Year 7, 8, 9 or 10: The main intake of boys and girls into our Senior School is at age 11 (Year 7) and age 13 (Year 9). For entry from September 2022 onwards they have developed an assessment process that is kinder to your child whilst yielding in-depth information for admissions decisions. The new process uses a test designed to identify each child’s potential and aptitude for learning, not simply their current performance. This gives a deeper understanding of each individual child; whilst also minimising the impact of lost learning due to Covid-19. Find out more about admission into Senior School.

International Candidates: International pupils, and British pupils joining from overseas education, will undergo a modified assessment process. This allows to assess pupils’ English language skills and learning levels, and to plan tailored support for each child. International Candidates - find out more about admission into Senior School.

OLA 6th admission: For entry into Sixth Form (OLA 6th), students are expected to gain at least 5 GCSEs at grades 9 – 6 (A* to B). Grade 6 (B) or above is normally required in the subjects they wish to study at A-level. This does not apply for subjects that they have not studied below the Sixth Form. Students not achieving a minimum of GCSE Grade 4 (C) in Maths or English Language will be asked to re-sit these subjects. Find out more about admission into OLA 6th.
