Our Lady and St Patrick's College, Knock is a co-educational school that caters for students between 11-18 years.
Our Lady and St. Patrick's College, Knock cares for young people in a way that encourages them to develop to their full potential within a supportive Christian community. Key Stage 3
All students study a broad and balanced curriculum in Years 8, 9 and 10. Year 13 students are assigned to each Year 8 tutor group, in groups of four. For the duration of the programme they will meet with their class once a week/fortnight to explore various themes, e.g. smoking, alcohol, drugs, bullying, prejudice, friendship, the environment, talents and relationships. Music, art, drama, poetry and story are used as media for exploring the chosen theme. EFL is taught in one module and each tutor group is divided into two for this subject. Thus, in quite a small group, pupils will be able to discuss and examine the topics which are covered. This subject deals with boys and girls growing up, physically and emotionally, all aspects of family life, love, conception and birth.
Key Stage 4
Students starting Year 11 will study ten, eleven or twelve GCSE subjects. The curriculum will include a compulsory element and an optional element. The 100 highest ranked students in the March Examination will be offered the opportunity to sit their GCSE Mathematics examination at the end of Year 11, followed by GCSE Additional Mathematics at the end of Year 12. All other students will study GCSE Mathematics over two years, Year 11 and Year 12.
Post 16
All students entering Sixth Form must study Advanced Subsidiary level (AS-level) and Advanced level (A-level) subjects. The AS-levels are made up of two or three assessment units and will be examined at the end of Year 13. They represent the first half of an A-level course of study.The A-level consists of four or six assessment units. Half of these make up the AS-level qualification studied in Year 13 while the other half known as A2, are studied in Year 14 and represent the second half of the A-level course of study. All students will normally be entered for the AS-level qualification in their chosen subjects at the end of Year 13 whether or not they wish to proceed to the full A-level qualification.

Personal Development Programme
All pupils follow a tutorial programme during their weekly tutorial period. The programme includes study skills, road safety, health education, drugs awareness, alcohol education, bullying, relationships, peer pressure, environmental issues, consumer issues, records of achievement etc. Some or all of these issues are addressed at the appropriate level with all year groups.
Learning Support
Special Educational Needs in the College is intended to support each pupil to progress as successfully academically, physically, morally, spiritually and socially to reach his/her full potential. The responsibilities of the board of Governors of the College for the Special Educational Needs provision is in accordance with the Education Order 1996 and Code of Practice. The Principal has the responsibility to ensure that the S.E.N. provision is followed in the College.
Education For Love
In accordance with the aims and objectives of the College, the Education for Love programme in Form 1, Form 2 and Form 3 endeavours to further these values through its curriculum in a partnership of teachers and students and as an extension of the ideal Catholic family.
