Large sports hall
A swimming pool
A main hall as well as other sporting and non-sporting facilities
Facilities include a 25 metre, six-lane indoor swimming pool, a large sports hall, four outdoor netball and tennis courts, extensive fields that include 3 football pitches in the winter and a 400m athletics track plus two cricket pitches in the summer.
Sport & PE: Sport plays a dynamic role in life at Oxford High School, from Reception to Year 13.We regularly compete in county, regional and national competitions in netball, hockey, football, equestrian, swimming, badminton, cross country, tennis, athletics and cricket. We also enter GDST rallies for a range of sports including the traditional team games and more specialised activities such as gymnastics, dance and golf.
Music & The Arts: Over the last century and a half, students leaving OHS have gone on to thrive in the fields of music, film, theatre, TV, fine art, academia, arts & crafts and cookery. Household names such as Maggie Smith, Mel Giedroyc, Miriam Margolyes and Emma Bridgewater share a common bond with luminaries such as poet Elizabeth Jennings, playwright Nina Raine, cookery writer Fuchsia Dunlop, artist Amy Isles Freeman, classicist Emma Wilson and Bafta Chair Dame Pippa Harris.
Educational Visits: Our students enjoy eye-opening educational visits and residential trips to far-flung locations and nearby gems. In recent years, they have visited Beijing, Paris, Moscow, Strasbourg, Munich, Barcelona, New York, Washington DC, Iceland, Nepal and many more. Language exchanges to France and Germany are a regular feature alongside residential visits to Russia and China. Geographers visit Iceland, Physicists visit CERN and our Politics and Economics students travel to the United States to deepen their knowledge and understanding of their subjects.
Clubs: From Astrology and Beekeeping to Young Enterprise and Zumba, there are over ninety clubs running at OHS every year, many led by Sixth Formers who have a passion and want to inspire the younger girls to try a new activity. Other clubs are less competitive and offer a respite from academic endeavour. These include beekeeping, dissection, eco-club, French films, Korean, gardening, cooking, jewellery, art, Chinese culture, sailing, Raspberry Pi and dance. Others still, such as chess, code-breakers, Bridge, debating and the School Magazine, wear their intellectualism proudly on their sleeve and offer girls new avenues in which to channel their energies.
