Description

Repton Preparatory School is Independent Secondary school in Not applicable for kids aged 2 to 14 (Gender - 2 to 14 )

Repton is the ancient capital of Mercia, and the School, founded in 1557 from a bequest from Sir John Port of Etwall, was established on the site of a 7th century Anglo-Saxon Benedictine abbey and latterly a 12th century Augustinian priory.Repton and Repton Prep have a thousand pupils across two age-appropriate sites, making it large enough to achieve excellence in and out of the classroom, yet small enough for individuals to grow and flourish. Repton Prep has around 400 pupils; academic standards are high and creative subjects, including Music, Art, Drama and Design, are considered a vital part of an all-round education. The School has a national profile in Sport, particularly in football, hockey and swimming. Our pupils flourish both in and out of the classroom and they develop the skills, qualities and values that will lead to a successful life.

Facilities

Prep For Repton
A key strand of Repton Prep’s pastoral care comes through our house system, which for day and boarding pupils alike provides a supportive community. Each pupil is assigned to either Alexander, Mountbatten, Tedder and Wavell and offers Reptonians a sense of identity. This is of key importance for when our pupils make the transition from the Prep School through to Repton. At Repton Prep, we know that participation in whatever arena fosters wellbeing. Throughout the year, there are a variety of House competitions which pupils have the opportunity to represent their House. These competitions include elements of academic endeavour, sports, music, drama and the arts, with the some varying due to the age of the pupils.

Features

Things to note

Sport
Repton Prep recognises the importance of getting young people involved in sport, whatever their ability and whatever their chosen discipline. We actively encourage pupils to participate at the best level they can and aim to equip every pupil with confidence and enthusiasm to enjoy sport and an active lifestyle both in school and beyond. We field squads in the major sports of football, hockey and cricket for boys and girls, with second, third, fourth and even fifth teams formed where possible. However, it is equally important to provide a wide range of different sporting opportunities for all our pupils, ranging from athletics and kayaking to fencing and orienteering.

Art And Design
At Repton Prep, creative arts subjects are highly valued as an integral part of school life. An education rich in artistic endeavour increases the opportunities for learners to engage as innovative thinkers. With access to a purpose-built Art and Ceramic Studio, pupils are encouraged to take the opportunity to engage in any number of the 21 creative extra-curricular clubs, from arts and crafts, textiles to jewellery making, there is plenty on offer for pupils. On Saturday mornings the arts also play a vital role in Pre-Prep's Repton Plus programme of extended learning opportunities.

After School Clubs and Activities
The activities on offer range from physical, cerebral, reflective, relaxing, creative and artistic. We run around 40 activities each term for Upper School pupils and 28 activities for those in Lower School. The activities that are available often reflect staff interests and enthusiasm, but pupils have a voice too and a number of activities have been set up at their request. Warhammer and Girls’ Football are the most recent of these. Late notice 'Mop Up' is available for the unexpected times when parents are delayed and pupils need to stay in school during activity time.
