Bridge House Independent School

St George's Preparatory School & Little Dragons Preschool is Independent Primary school in Lincolnshire for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
St George’s Preparatory School, is situated half a mile from the A16, on the outskirts of Boston,Lincolnshire. It is a very special place where girls and boys work, play and learn in a close, busy and caring community. Whilst staff are aware of their responsibilities to prepare children for their future lives as well mannered and well educated citizens, there is certainly no rush to encourage the children to grow up too quickly. They want every child to remember their childhood with fondness. They are very fortunate to have such an inspirational main building - a Grade II listed Victorian house full of ornate carvings, ceramics and stained glass windows which evoke feelings of awe and wonder. They also provide a very useful history resource! Children have plenty of outdoor play spaces - a tarmac playground, a vegetable garden, a lawn and a mud kitchen and of course our beautiful woodland complete with a fire circle and plenty of trees for climbing!
Little Dragons Pre-School
Children may start in Little Dragons from their third birthday, attending either full time or part-time. A place is guaranteed in the reception class for children who begin in Little Dragons. When a child is so young, it's crucial to make sure that he or she receives the very best start. You can be sure of this at Little Dragons Pre-School, where they deliberately limit the number of children attending each day to ensure that every child receives individual attention from our experienced and warm staff.
Lower School (Foundation Stage and Years 1 and 2)
The years between birth and the age of seven are crucial years in a child's life. In this time the brain grows and develops faster than any other time in an individual's life. Controversially, maybe, they do not pack this period with the conventional idea of learning. They follow more of a Scandinavian approach and allow our children to be children, enjoying their childhood - for you only have one childhood! They encourage them to develop at a pace which is right for them, with plenty of fresh air, good food and lots of opportunities to learn through play. How do they know it works? Look at the results of the Scandinavian neighbours, talk to the parents or even better, come and watch the children and staff in action.
Upper School (Years 3-6)
The Upper School builds on the excellent foundations laid down in the Lower School. By the time a child starts in year 3, they expect him/her to read with fluency and expression, to have a good understanding/application of the four rules of number and place value, but more importantly, to have a love of learning, to understand right from wrong and to have the intrinsic desire to excel.Teachers still teach in a cross-curricular fashion, but there is a gradual change towards subject specific teaching.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Parents of children with identified SEND should discuss whether the school has the facilities and expertise to accommodate their child's needs. As the school is Grade II listed, we are able to make reasonable accommodations to the building for children with disabilities, but unfortunately, they are unable to provide some facilities due to the historical listing..
Parents, Teachers and Friends of St George's Prep
The school has an extremely active PTFA, which is a registered charity. Mrs Mercer-Allen is our PTFA Chairperson. She has two children at St George's Prep. Parents and friends of the school help out in so many ways, both during and after school hours. They organise family-friendly and adults only events throughout the year in order to raise funds for additional equipment/activities. All parents are automatically enrolled as members of the PTFA when they join the school. If you would like to know more, please ask at the office and we can put you in touch with a member of the committee..
