Facilities

Curriculum
They pay particular importance to ensuring that all areas of the curriculum are differentiated fittingly, dependent upon the needs of our learners – providing clear structure yet also freedom, to embed skills within each subject area whilst challenging and supporting all appropriately, recognising that the best historian may not necessarily be the best writer; the best musician may not be the best mathematician etc. However, with our curriculum, they can challenge, support, extend and embed children’s understanding within each area of the wider curriculum with accuracy and fluidity. We also use the curriculum to teach and infuse a rich vocabulary throughout – attempting to teach at least 400 new words per year group in an effort to not leave the assimilation of language to simple chance. A language rich curriculum forms the basis for children developing better reasoning skills, greater inference and pragmatic abilities. The more words our children can use in the right context, the more academic success they will have and in turn the greater their chances of employment become during adulthood.

Features

Things to note

Extra curricular opportunities
Over the course of the year, they will also run a range of after school and lunchtime clubs. Some of these clubs will be aimed at preparing for sporting competitions (football, basketball, cricket, athletics etc.) run by the Forge School Sport Partnership. In addition to this, we will also run a host of other clubs aimed at nurturing talent and developing character. These opportunities will include, but are not limited too: STEM ambassadors, School Newspaper, Eco-Warriors, Coding Club, Choir, Art Attack and Cinema Club.

After School Club
In order to provide wider opportunities for the children at our school, every night from Monday to Thursday (3:15-4:30pm) during term time, they run an after school club for children from Y1-Y6. They offer a suite of activities including: sports with Coach McCarroll; arts and crafts with Mrs Cockayne and Mrs Walker; and parlour games with Mr Stones.

PE & School Sport
Here at Stradbroke Primary School, they aim to offer a rich, broad and stimulating Physical Education curriculum that accommodates the needs of all children. The curriculum aims to promote the physical literacy of all children through experiencing a wide range of physical activities and sports.Through the support of our specialist Sports Leader, Mr McCarroll, our dynamic teaching staff and other wider organisations and partners that we work alongside, the children take part in 2 hours of high quality Physical Education and School Sport each week. They aim for pupils to become physically confident, develop core values and strive to fulfil their potential, whilst supporting their health and well-being to lead fit and healthy lifestyles.

Personal Development
The intent is to provide a wide, rich set of experiences and opportunities that extends beyond the academic to ensure the children become aspirational, confident, respectful and resilient life-long learners. They aim to provide an extra-curricular programme (with a strong uptake from pupils – particularly those who are disadvantaged) that strengthens the school offer by nurturing children’s talents and interests and encouraging them to be physically and mentally healthy. At Stradbroke, we celebrate diversity and promote tolerance of other opinions and beliefs so that when children leave Stradbroke, they feel a deep connection in our community and want to contribute back to wider society.
