The King’s School is an excellent learning environment with an illustrious history.  At King’s we are extremely proud of our friendly and focused academic atmosphere - one that is rich with diversity and opportunities. It is important that all our pupils enjoy their time at King’s and that their individual interests, talents and needs are recognised and valued.  We want our pupils to leave the school as well-rounded individuals who have the capacity to influence and shape society.

Facilities

Entry into Years 8-11
Applicants for entry into Years 8-11 will be required to take nationally standardised tests at the school to assess their suitability for admission unless they have previously passed the 11+ test here or in another Lincolnshire Consortium Grammar School. If necessary, we will give due consideration for those candidates who have a special educational need or whose first language is not English.

Entry to the Sixth Form (Year 12)
King’s has a large and successful Sixth Form of about 290 boys, including approximately 10% who are new to King’s in Year 12.   We warmly welcome applicants for Sixth Form places from boys who will achieve good GCSEs.  The school has an established track record of ensuring that students joining the Sixth Form make a smooth transition both to A Level study and a new Post 16 environment.  All boys experience a thorough induction programme before the start of Year 12 to facilitate the transition into the King’s Sixth Form.

Activities
The academic curriculum is supported and enriched by an extensive programme of educational visits (art galleries, museums etc.), by field work in subjects such as Geography, by language exchange programmes (with schools in Germany and China) and by visitors to the school. The Modern Foreign Languages Departments organise several annual trips and the History Department organise an annual trip to the battlefields of northern Europe.
