Town Close House Preparatory School is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 2 to 14 (Gender - 2 to 14 )
They are passionate about education and celebrate effort and commitment in every area of school life. The pupils are ambitious in their core academic studies and throw themselves energetically into a multitude of activities outside the classroom, learning to perform, to organise, to take responsibility, to be part of a team, to formulate ideas and to innovate.Preparing the children for the future is at the heart of all they do and they move seamlessly from Town Close into leading senior schools locally and nationally, a good many celebrating scholarship success in a variety of subject areas. The beautiful wooded fifteen-acre site in Norwich gives all of the children space and freedom and contributes substantially to the reputation as an outstandingly happy school, where children are polite and courteous and keen to embrace all that the future brings.
PRE PREP DEPARTMENT AND NURSERY
Very young children have a natural curiosity and enthusiasm and they aim to harness these qualities through an active, stimulating, happy and secure Pre Prep environment, in which our children can flourish into confident, well-prepared and highly motivated learners. At the same time we help them to develop into sociable and balanced individuals with good manners, self discipline, honesty and consideration for others. The Pre Prep Department caters for children aged between 3 and 7 years. The Department includes a Nursery for children aged 3-4 years, four Reception classes (ages 4-5), three Year 1 classes (ages 5-6) and three Year 2 classes (aged 6-7). The Pre Prep includes the beautiful Georgian house, a brand new Nursery and communal area, as well as the newly built ‘Nest’ which is home to our Year 2 children.
PREP DEPARTMENT
Children in Years 3-8 need the opportunity to experience a wide variety of academic, practical and physical activities so that they can develop an extensive range of skills and discover where their talents lie. In the Prep Department, generous amounts of time are given over to physical and practical activities, whilst also ensuring that high standards are maintained in academic subjects. The Year 3 pupils continue to receive much of their education from their form teacher, as this provides an important supportive environment, but they benefit from the expertise of specialist subject teachers in French, DT, ICT, Music, PE and Games. From Year 5, pupils receive all of their education from specialist subject teachers.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
A major strength of the School is the breadth of our extra-curricular provision and the fact that all pupils are encouraged to participate in as wide a range of activities as possible. One of the principal aims is to educate the children highly and widely so that they are fully ready for the next stages of their education and lives, and equipped to make a valuable contribution to their next schools. To do this they have created an extensive programme of activities that happen every day before school, during the lunch breaks and after school. To ensure maximum participation, year group concerts and drama productions are produced along with more conventional plays, musicals and concerts involving the whole school. In addition to a fine orchestra, children can join a wide variety of choirs and instrumental groups. On the sports field, a similar philosophy exists as we seek to involve everyone in matches against other schools, regardless of their ability.
