The forest school encourages students to work together, develop their practical skills and build their confidence by trying new activities outdoors. It is approximately a quarter of a mile walk up and down the hill to the forest school site, providing opportunities for plenty of fresh air, exercise and calming time.
Activities and facilities
The school offers an enrichment curriculum, encouraging young people to experience the joy of discovering an interest or passion outside of their academic life. They want the children to be life-long learners, who are open to new experiences and enjoy developing new skills and knowledge. The extensive grounds provide opportunities for rewarding life experiences that enable the delivery of social and emotional aspects of learning such as teamwork, tolerance, self-regulation, respect, independence and achievement, alongside our school curriculum. They have a forest school with additional sensory equipment, two horticulture areas with a polytunnel and other specific areas within the grounds that are used for den building, tree climbing, sensory play, outdoor sports and athletic activities, quiet walks and reflection areas.
