Wisbech Grammar School is a leading independent coeducational day school for pupils aged 3-18.

Facilities

With over 37 acres, they have wonderful facilities with Rugby pitches ranging from under 9 to under 18, four grass cricket squares, two astro-turf pitches, cricket nets, a full-size flood-lit hockey pitch, Netball Courts a 400 metre athletics track, alongside throwing and jumping areas. They also have a fully equipped sports hall with five cricket nets, a netball court, indoor hockey pitch, as well as badminton and basketball courts. To support pupils in improving their fitness they have a Weights Room, Spinning Studio and a studio where they hold fitness classes.

  • The Drama Department is vibrant, priding itself on the high quality and diverse nature of its productions. In the Prep School, there are two major events each year – the Nativity play and main production, which ensures that every child has their moment to shine on stage in the Russell Hall.
  • Musicians put on a busy programme of performances, from large-scale concerts in the Russell Hall to more intimate recitals in the beautiful surroundings of Peckover House.

Admission Details

Early Years Admissions ( 3+): The first years of a child’s life are when the foundations are laid to pave the way to their educational journey, and at Wisbech Grammar School they aim to provide the best quality Early Years Education for your child. The dedicated Admissions and Early Years Team is here to ensure you have all the information you need and are on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Prep Admissions Ages 5-10: Once you have completed and returned your registration form Admissions Team will be in contact to arrange a date for your child to sit entrance assessment. Assessments are carried out online for children joining year groups 3 and above. Year 1 and 2 children sit a paper assessment in English and Maths and children looking to join in Early Years will have an informal meeting with Head of Early Years and Senior Deputy Head of Prep School, this is an opportunity to get to know your child and for you to get to know us. All assessments will be done on an individual basis in line with social distance guidelines.

Senior Admissions ( 11+ ): Year 7 Entrance Assessments are now being carried out individually, once you have registered, Admissions Team will be in contact to arrange a suitable day and time. 

6th Form Admissions: Once they receive your form with an idea of the A-Levels/BTEC courses you are interested in, Admissions Team will be in touch to organise your tailored 6th Form Experience. Magdalene House (Preparatory School): £ 10,797 per year
Prep 5 and Prep 6 (ages 9 to 11): £ 3,599 per term
Magdalene House (Preparatory School): £ 10,497 per year
Reception to Prep 4 (ages 4 to 9): £ 3,499 per term

Scholarships

Academic – Year 7, 9 and 12: Selection of Academic Scholars for entry into Year 7 2022 is based on the entrance assessment and interviews with the Headmaster, you do not need to apply to be considered. Year 9 and Year 12, candidates are required to fill out the Academic Scholarship Application Form.

Drama – Year 7, 9 and 12: Demonstrate notable success in, and an aptitude & passion for, Drama. Applicants are likely to have made a significant and tangible contribution to drama at their present school or in wider dramatic activities.

Art & Design – Year 7, 9 and 12: Show great potential within the field of Art and Design as demonstrated through outstanding ability, evidence of a creative and inventive mind at work, and a passion for the world of art around them. Pupils will be required to demonstrate a portfolio of their work.

Music – Year 7, 9 and 12: Show musical potential, for example, a Year 7 candidate would be expected to have passed Grade 5, Year 9 candidate at least Grade 6, and a Year 12 candidate should have the potential to achieve Grade 8 during the 6th Form.

Sport – Year 9, 10 and 12: Make a significant contribution through competing at a high standard in their chosen sport, typically County standard or above, and at A-team level in other sports.
