Immerse yourself in 700 years of history at Avoncroft. Avoncroft is home to 30 historic buildings and structures, dating from the 14th century to the mid-20th century, across our 19-acre site, including a medieval town house, a 19th century windmill and a 20th century prefab.

Since it opened in 1967 Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings has developed into one of Britain’s best-known award-winning open-air museums. The museum was conceived after a campaign in 1962 by local people to prevent the demolition of an ancient timber framed house in Bromsgrove.

  • Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings is an open-air museum of rescued buildings which have been relocated to its site in Stoke Heath, a district of Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England. 
  • Since it opened in 1967 Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings has developed into one of Britain’s best-known award-winning open-air museums. The museum was conceived after a campaign in 1962 by local people to prevent the demolition of an ancient timber framed house in Bromsgrove. The Mediaeval town house became the first exhibit to be repaired and re-erected on the site and was soon followed by many more. Today there over 30 rescued Historic Buildings spanning 700 years including Victorian Toll house, 1940s prefab, Windmill & the National Telephone Kiosk Collection. The rural location backdrop is the perfect setting for weddings, filming, learning, and events. The museum has become the home for annual Festivals.
