Description

Bridgend Miniature Railway is a family-friendly attraction set within over 4 acres of woodland next to the Parc Slip Nature Reserve in Aberkenfig, Bridgend. It offers a relaxed outdoor experience where visitors can enjoy miniature train rides in a natural setting. The railway is run by enthusiasts and is a great day out for families, children, and railway fans.

On Open Days, visitors can enjoy rides on the miniature trains and spend time picnicking in the woodland surroundings. The site is home to “The World in Miniature”, where members build and operate G-gauge, O-gauge, OO-gauge, and N-gauge model railways, and visitors may see model layouts in action. Another highlight is Pentrecennydd Village, a detailed fictional Welsh Valleys village model layout, unveiled as part of the railway’s miniature world.

There is no entry fee to visit the site. Train rides cost £3 per ride, or £15 for a multi-ride ticket covering 6 rides. Birthday parties cost £220, which includes exclusive use of the miniature railway for 2 hours, a train with driver and guard, a station master, access to the clubhouse and kitchen facilities, and toilet facilities.

Bridgend Miniature Railway offers a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all ages. The combination of woodland surroundings, miniature trains, and friendly volunteers makes each visit special. It’s an ideal attraction for families, model railway enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a low-cost and memorable day out in Bridgend.
