Buckfastleigh Open Air Pool is a heated, 21-metre outdoor lido in the heart of South Devon. Known as the oldest pool in Devon, it has been a community favourite for generations. Open from May to September for summer swims, and from September to February for cold water swimming, it’s a unique year-round destination.

The pool sits within Victoria Park, where families can enjoy a skate park, climbing structures, swings, trampolines, and play areas. Weekly cold water talks and swims help visitors build confidence and stay safe in cooler temperatures. The park’s facilities, including a refurbished children’s play area and youth-friendly spaces, make it ideal for a full family day out.

Prices start at £6.50 for adults and £4.50 for kids, with discounted local (TQ11) rates and multi-swim passes available. Private hire of the pool is also offered for parties and events.

Open Air Pool: The open air pool sits in a beautiful adventure playground, so a visit to swim is also a great family day out, with climbing, skating, under 5s play, our pool tuck shop and tasty local food nearby. With full lifeguard support and hot drinks to warm you up after, it's a great way to acclimatise to cold water swimming as the seasons progress. Give it a go! Come down and join us, we can’t wait to see you there! Are you new to cold water swimming, or perhaps would like to know more about how to look after your body in cold water and other safety measures you can put in place? Every Sunday we will be running our introduction to cold water talk and swim. We will cover several aspects of safety including what to bring with you, how long to spend in the water and give you an understanding of how your body reacts to those chilly temperatures.
Victoria Park: When you visit the pool, plan for a fun-filled day at Victoria Park, with its fabulous skate park and adventure play area. It has climbing structures and towers with scramble nets, a crocodile swing, a zip-wire and uniquely designed youth shelters. It's perfect for a picnic after your swim, so grab some snacks from the tuck shop and relax. Our little children's play area was fully refurbished in 2024! It has a wheelchair accessible roundabout, adventure tower with a slide, a swing for toddlers, a basket swing, an in-ground trampoline, climbing equipment, and sound flowers. For local children and their families, Victoria Park is also at the centre of the town’s Hello Summer! activities and events. A full programme is running in 2024.
