The Mountain Railway: Journey On The UK’s Highest Mountain Railway. Scotland’s only Funicular Railway takes you from the Base Station (635 metres) up to the Ptarmigan Top Station (1097 metres) in under 10 minutes. The Cairngorm Funicular is the only Mountain Railway in Scotland, and the highest in the United Kingdom. It is open year-round and offers a unique and fully accessible experience suitable for all ages and abilities.
The Mountain Garden: A Reflection Of The Wild Mountain Landscape. First introduced to Cairngorm Mountain in the 1970s, the concept of a mountain garden was to create a reflection of the wild mountain landscape that surrounds the resort. The garden as you see it today was brought to life following construction of the Funicular Railway in 2001 and has grown over the past 20 years into a vibrant environment home to many native animals, flora and fauna.

Summer

Tubing Slides: The Cairngorm Mountain Tubing Slides are a must do activity if you are visiting Aviemore and the Cairngorms in the Spring, Summer, and Autumn months. Located just a few steps away from our car park at the base of the resort it’s just a few steps away from our car park. Enjoy an exhilarating, high-speed experience with incredible views over Loch Morlich and the Spey Valley.
Jumping Pillow: The new jumping pillow is great fun for ages 2 – 16 years old. The jumping pillow is a great addition to the play park and is now open! It’s around 14 metres x 10 metres in size and provides a thrilling experience for children to jump and bounce to their hearts content.
Winch Cat Zip Lines: The Winch Cat Zip Line and Climbing Frame is built to resemble our snow clearing equipment! With two zip lines, it’s great fun for children to race against each other, with spectacular views from the mountain down towards Loch Morlich. The zip lines are not manned by an attendant, it is the duty of the participants responsible adult to watch their children.
Adventure Ball Runs: Begin the adventure ball run experience with Rhona the Reindeer at the Camera Obscura in the Mountain Garden. Here, Rhona will ask you 7 fun questions which you must get correct to get your ball to the finish point! Children age 14 or under must be supervised by an adult (and to assist reaching the ball holes).
Fergus The Frog: Next in our Adventure Ball Run family is Fergus the Frog. Have fun watching your ball snake through the ball run in the Mountain Garden. When you purchase your wooden ball you’ll also receive a fun quiz to complete with some questions from Fergus which you’ll find answers to in the garden. Children age 14 or under must be supervised by an adult.
Heather & Hamish The Mountain Hares: Enjoy panoramic views from over 600 meters above sea level in our final Ball Runs, Heather & Hamish the Mountain Hare twins! Watch as you ball twists and turns it’s way down Heather’s ball track and then have a go at her brother Hamish’s final ball run. Children age 14 or under must be supervised by an adult.
Summit Guided Walks: Experience A Guided Walk To The Summit Of Britain’s 6th Highest Mountain. Have the chance to enjoy something truly special by walking to the summit of Cairn Gorm and enjoy breathtaking views from the 6th highest mountain in the British Isles. Travel on the Mountain Railway to the Ptarmigan Top Station at a height of 1,097m (3,599 ft) above sea level. From here, you will be guided to the Cairn Gorm summit at a height of 1,245m (4,085 ft).
Cairngorm Motorhome Site: We welcome you to the Coire na Ciste and our motorhome site situated at one of the most stunning locations in the Cairngorms National Park. Located just a stone’s throw away from all the facilities at Cairngorm Mountain allowing you to combine a day’s exploring with a tranquil sleepover at a secure park with panoramic views. Experience picturesque views across Glenmore, Loch Morlich and through the epic Ryvoan Pass from the comfort of your motorhome or campervan.
Mountain Carting: Scotland’s Only Gravity Fuelled Mountain Cart Experience. Calling all thrill seekers! Scotland’s only gravity powered Mountain Carting experience is back and now includes even more excitement and adrenaline fuelled action. Your Mountain Carting experience will start at the Day Lodge, where you will meet your Cart Guide and get ready for action.
Cairngorm Mountain Bike Park: There’s a great range of trails for beginners through to advanced riders. The Bike Park is a managed facility and our Adventure Sports team will be on hand to assist you during your visit. We have an on-site rental facility with a fleet ranging from balance bikes to hard-tails and full suspension e-bikes. Bike rental is on a first come, first serve basis at present but will be available for advance booking in the coming weeks.

Cairngorm Mountain is the perfect mountain environment for learning to ski or snowboard and we will strive to give you a positive introduction to snowsports. For those experiencing snowsports for the first time we have everything you need to kick-start your journey with an on-site equipment rental facility, our dedicated beginner’s area at the base of the resort, and a range of gentle slopes accessible when conditions allow.

By Car: Located just 10 miles from Aviemore, getting here by car is one of the most flexible options for visitors staying in the local area. Travelling up from Glasgow or Edinburgh in the south takes approximately 2.5 hours, Inverness to the north is around 1 hours drive. The main car park area for visitors to Cairngorm Mountain is at the base of Coire Cas with space for over 400 cars including accessible, and oversized spaces ideal for larger vehicles. From here it is a short walk to our facilities and activities.
By Bus or Train: The Aviemore area is well connected to transport networks across the UK making travel by bus or train and fantastic way to visit Cairngorm Mountain. With buses and multiple trains passing through on the Highland main line, Aviemore is easy to get to on public transport. The Aviemore Adventurer 30 bus runs 7 days a week between Aviemore and our doorstep.
By Bike: Out with the snowier months there are a variety of cycle routes to Cairngorm Mountain from Aviemore, the epic hill road climb is a challenge many enjoy conquering. Starting from Aviemore you have the choice of using the ski road (for the skinny tyres) or the Old Logging Way (parallel to the ski road) for gravel and mountain bikes to Glenmore. The climb starts from the Snow Gate at Glenmore with an average gradient of 9% and steepest gradient of 17% for 5.3 kilometres with a height gain of 300 metres. Bike parking is available near the base station. Remember to reward yourself with a delicious cake in our Cairngorm Café.
