The Fashion and Textile Museum is an English museum. The Fashion and Textile Museum was founded in 2003 by Zandra Rhodes and is operated by the Newham College of Further Education. Located in Bermondsey, it is in a building designed by Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta. 

The Museum is committed to presenting varied, creative and engaging exhibitions, alongside an exciting selection of educational courses, talks, events and workshops. In place of a permanent collection is a diverse programme of temporary exhibitions, displaying a broad range of innovative fashion and textiles from designers and makers around the world.

Facilities

  • Parking: The Museum does not have parking facilities, and the surrounding area is residential and permit-holder parking only. There is an NCP car park where Kipling Street meets Snowsfields, a five-minute walk from the Museum.
  • Food and drink: No food or drink is permitted in the Museum, other than bottled water. The Fashion and Textile Museum is located in the heart of fashionable Bermondsey Street, surrounded by award-winning restaurants, cafes and pubs.
  • Toilets: Toilets are available on the ground floor, including wheelchair-accessible and baby change facilities.
  • Assistance Dogs: Guide, hearing and assistance dogs are welcome at the Museum as long as they are working and are wearing their appropriate tabard/harness, or by being identified as such to staff at the front desk.
  • Wi-Fi: We have guest Wi-Fi available, please ask a member of staff on arrival for more information.

  • By Car: The Museum does not have parking facilities, and the surrounding area is residential and permit-holder parking only, with limited free parking on evenings and weekends.
  • By Bus: Routes 47, 343 and 381 stop on Tooley Street. Routes 1, 42, 78 and 188 stop on Tower Bridge Road. Route C10 stops on Abbey Street/Long Lane.
  • By Train: Both National Rail and London Underground services (Jubilee and Northern lines) are available from London Bridge station, an eight-minute walk to the museum from its St Thomas Street entrance.
  • By Bicycle: Santander Cycle hire docking stations are located at Tyers Gate and Snowsfields. There are no bicycle rack facilities at the Museum.
  • By Cab: Black cabs can be pre-booked, hailed on the street or found at the designated taxi rank at the top of Bermondsey Street, close to Tooley Street. Minicabs must be booked in advance through a licensed private hire operator.
