Description

Looking for a fun-filled day in the countryside? Visit the farm park to meet, greet, and feed friendly animals, including playful goats, fluffy sheep, charming alpacas, curious chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, and geese. The cattle at Hertford Heath are bred naturally, with an Aberdeen Angus/Simmental herd producing high-welfare beef through extensive grazing on pastures, meadowland, and nature reserves, complemented by straw-bedded housing and home-grown feeds. Goats are kept for grazing and visitor enjoyment, including Boer and Pygmy breeds. Mixed poultry roam freely, providing eggs for the farm shop, and chicks are available at Easter.

After exploring the animals, children can enjoy the outdoor play area with climbing equipment and a sandpit, while the whole family relaxes in the fresh country air. The farm park offers the perfect combination of outdoor adventure, animal interaction, and countryside relaxation for all ages.

Features

  • Farm: Cattle at Hertford Heath are bred naturally, with selective breeding since the 1980s producing an Aberdeen Angus/Simmental herd of single-suckler beef cattle. The cross-breeding creates a placid herd with large form and rich Angus flavour. Cattle are farmed extensively on pastures, meadowland, and nature reserves, spending seven months outside on rotated fields and the remainder in straw-bedded sheds, fed home-grown silage, maize, whole crop, and clover, ensuring high-welfare beef and sustainability.
  • Poultry: Chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, and geese roam freely, supporting egg production for the farm shop. Mixed breeds provide variety, with chicks available at Easter. Visitors can see the chickens up close in the farmyard.
  • Goats: Goats are raised for grazing, not consumption, and thrive on low grazing land, sharing pens with other livestock. Breeds include Boer and Pygmy goats, housed in the farm park for visitors to observe their behaviour.
  • Kids burn off some energy in outdoor play area, featuring exciting climbing equipment and a sandpit.  Breathe in the fresh country air and enjoy a relaxing day surrounded by nature.
  • Glamping at Foxholes Farm: Glamping pods and safari tents provide countryside retreats for families, friends, or couples. Each pod accommodates up to six guests with two bedrooms (one double, one with two singles) and a sofa bed in the living area. Options include the Chicken Coop, Highland, and Herdwick Safari Tent.
