Description
The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary is a peaceful home for over 100 donkeys, mules, and miniature Shetland ponies, located in the scenic Wroxall valley near Ventnor. Spread across 55 acres, it offers visitors free entry and parking, along with a welcoming atmosphere. Since 1987, the sanctuary has provided a safe haven for animals in need, many of whom are elderly or require special care.
Visitors can meet and interact with the donkeys, take guided tours to learn about their rescue stories, and enjoy taking photos with these friendly animals. The Donkey Experience offers two hours of behind-the-scenes access for £50, allowing guests to gain a deeper understanding of the sanctuary’s work. The site also has a café in a converted barn, a shop, picnic areas, and scenic walking trails.
Entry is completely free, making it an accessible attraction for all. Additional experiences, like the Donkey Experience, are available for a fee.
