La Hougue Bie is one of the most important prehistoric sites in Jersey and one of the 10 oldest buildings in the world. This remarkable site takes you on a journey from Neolithic times to the German Occupation of World War II. It offers a unique mix of ancient history, archaeology and stunning countryside views.
The Neolithic passage grave (4000–3500 BC) was built to align with the rising sun at spring and summer equinox, and sits beneath a 16th-century Christian chapel. Visitors can explore the exhibition ‘Searching for Jersey’s Celts’, featuring Le Câtillon II – the world’s largest Celtic coin hoard of 70,000 coins and jewellery. There is also a replica 20-metre Neolithic Longhouse, a German command bunker from World War II, and interactive volunteer demonstrations using authentic ancient techniques.
Standard prices are Adult (16+) £15.45, Senior (65+) £14.45, Child or Student £10.25, and Family ticket £46.45, with discounted group rates available for 10+ adults.
With thousands of years of history in one location, La Hougue Bie offers a powerful and educational experience. From ancient rituals to wartime stories, every part of the site brings the past to life. It is a must-visit destination for history lovers exploring Jersey.
