Mersey Ferries are one of Liverpool’s most iconic attractions, offering scenic cruises and daily commuter services across the historic River Mersey. With over 800 years of history, these famous ferries provide a unique way to explore the Liverpool City Region from the water. Visitors can enjoy the popular 50-minute River Explorer Cruise with expert commentary and stunning views of Liverpool’s skyline, as well as Evening Cruises featuring live music, DJs and tribute bands. There’s also a combined River Cruise & City Explorer Open Top Bus Tour covering 14 key landmarks, and the fascinating Manchester Ship Canal Cruise offering a full-day journey through historic waterways. A weekday commuter ferry service runs between Seacombe and Liverpool Pier Head, making travel quick and relaxing.

Ticket prices vary depending on the experience. The River Explorer Cruise costs £13.00 for adults, £8.50 for children (5–15), £11.50 for concessions and £37.00–£40.00 for family tickets, while infants under 5 travel free. Commuter fares start from £3.00 single or £4.00 return, with flexi passes from £11.00 and monthly passes at £66.00. The River Cruise & Bus Tour costs £24.50 for adults and £69.00 for a family of four. Evening Cruises are £25 per adult (£22 per person for groups), and the Manchester Ship Canal Cruise is £50 for adults (£43 for groups).

For special occasions, private boat hire is available from 7.30pm, with space for up to 270 guests across two decks. Ideal for birthdays, weddings, and corporate events, guests can enjoy catering options, onboard bars, and spectacular waterfront views while cruising along the River Mersey.

  • Our historic vessels are available for exclusive hire, so whether it’s a birthday party, wedding reception, product launch or a night out for your friends and family, we can help.
  • You can hire the Royal Iris of the Mersey with her traditional black, white, and red livery or the UK’s only operating Dazzle Ship ‘Snowdrop’ (subject to availability).
  • Our ferries are available for private hire from 7.30pm throughout the week including weekends and bank holidays. The vessels have a main deck and upper deck with total capacity of up to 270 guests.
  • Our flexible catering team can prepare a range of options for your guests: from a simple, yet delicious finger buffet, a superb fork buffet or hot food such as their famous Scouse dish.
  • Bars are available on both decks with a good selection of alcoholic and soft drinks to keep your guests refreshed.

Leave the M6 at Junction 21a and take the M62 towards Liverpool. Follow the M62 to the end, keeping directly ahead for the A5080.
