Half Day Activity

  • Ghyll Scrambling: Impossible to describe and impossible to forget, Ghyll Scrambling (aka gorge walking) is THE most popular half or full day activity here in the Lake District, and at Honister involves scrambling up a Lake District ghyll under the watchful eye of your highly experienced guide. Although it changes every trip due to the water levels, every ascent will include mini rock climbs, squeezes through rock and tree holes, a jumps into plunge pools, the 'tunnel of Doom' (optional!) and various other challenges as we ascend the route.
  • Rock Climbing Taster: 'Real' Outdoor Rock climbing in the Lake District is exhilarating, strenuous, challenging and of course fun. At MobileAdventure our highly experienced team of climbing instructors guarantee that you will experience all of these during your climbing sessions with us! The Lake District, has some of the finest rock climbs in the country, and is also home to some of the most famous historical routes - the 1st recorded rock climb being Napes Needle at the head of the valley.
  • Kayaking: The Mobile Adventure fleet of kayaks provides you with the perfect way to unwind and enjoy a few hours and to explore the lake. Derwentwater is ideal for water sports including canoeing and kayaking - there are four islands plus lakeshore coves to explore, as well as some jumps for the more adventurous! Mobile Adventures' lake kayaking sessions allow you to enjoy this stunning part of the Lake District at your own pace and truly appreciated the peace and quiet of our amazing location, 15min drive from the busy town of Keswick.
  • Canoeing Taster: The modern MobileAdventure fleet of canoes provides you with the perfect way to enjoy a few relaxed hours on Derwent Water, one of the most beautiful areas in the Lake District national park. Mobile Adventures' canoeing sessions gives you another way to enjoy the national park, and from the water the size and grandeur of the mountains is given a whole new perspective, allowing you to enjoy the peace and quiet of the surroundings – our canoeing experience can truly take your breath away!
  • Via Ferrata: Set in the Lake District, high on the side of Honister Pass and above the beautiful valley of Buttermere, 30min drive from Keswick this is a truly unique mountain climbing experience. We highly recommend this activity for groups seeking excitement and something a little out of the ordinary. If you find GoApe a bit tame... this is for you! We also offer the 'Climb in the Mine' activity- an underground Via Ferrata course! If heights are not your strong point, but you enjoy the physical challenge of climbing, then have a look at this brand new activity.
  • Raft Building: Raft building is a fantastic team building exercise, which will certainly make great group memories! Sink or swim – when your raft building it’s down to you!?! Great for groups of family, friends, Stag and Hen parties in the Lake District, our activity base is within 15 min drive of Keswick.
  • Paddle Boarding: Stand-up paddleboarding is an outdoor water sports activity where a rider (you!) stands up on a large board and uses a paddle to move through the water. With its roots in surfing, it has recently blown up into the fastest growing part of paddlesport. Although Ullswater, Windermere and Coniston Water are all great paddle boarding locations, we have based ourselves on Derwent Water, the 'Jewel in the crown' for Stand Up Paddle Boarding in the Lakes.

Full Day Activity

  • Gorge Walking: Gorge Walking is a more 'extreme' version of our popular ghyll scrambling experience often known as Canyoning or gorge scrambling! Great fun, very wet, and personally my favourite day in the Lake District for adventure groups! We take our groups to Esk Gorge, in one of the more remote areas of the Lake District. The time it takes to drive there from Keswick or Ambleside and walk into the gorge is certainly worth it, as the full day experience is totally unique, and incredible fun - of all of our activities.
  • River Trips: Away from the busy central Lakes such as Coniston Water, the Lake District also holds a fantastic collection of 'forgotten' rivers. These range from the very slow and easy, to fast and furious white water, allowing us to run canoe, kayak and SUP river trips for all abilities.
  • Caving: Caving right in the Lake District is limited to small isolated caves, Priests hole, Rydal cave etc. The nearest real caving systems are in Yorkshire, around 1 hour drive from Keswick or 1/2 hour from Windermere. There are around 3,500 caves to explore in the Yorkshire Dales, one for every age and ability. More people have been up Mount Everest than down the depths of the deepest caves in Yorkshire!
  • Lake District Scrambling: Bridging the gap between walking and rock climbing, scrambling will mean you get your hands on the rock, scrambling up rocky steps, slabs, chimneys and arêtes to a mountain summit in the company of our experienced instructors. No matter your previous mountain experience, we can plan and give you a great challenging day out.
  • Adrenaline day: A Keswick Activity day combines two of our most popular and exciting outdoor activities - Ghyll Scrambling and the Honister Via Ferrata Extreme course. Both activities are great fun, and are within 30min drive of Keswick, the Lake District. As we will be outside in plenty of fresh air they are also great in these COVID times. Suitable for friends, families, adult groups... anyone over 10 and 1.3m tall!!
