Description

Penrhyn Castle is a country house in Llandygai, Bangor, Gwynedd, North Wales, constructed in the style of a Norman castle. The Penrhyn Estate was founded by Ednyfed Fychan. In the 15th century his descendant Gwilym ap Griffith built a fortified manor house on the site.

  • Food & Drinks: Castle café open daily, 10:30 until 3:30. Hot and cold drinks, hot food and cakes available. Indoor and outdoor seating available.
  • Toilet: Accessible toilets and baby changing areas by the Welcome Centre in the main car park and by the Castle.
  • Dogs allowed: Dogs are welcome on short leads in the gardens and café. Assistance dogs only permitted inside the castle.

  • By road: At Llandygai on A5122. Signposted from junction 11 of A55 and A5. The drive entrance has a height restriction at the Grand Lodge: H 4.22m W 3.10m. There is a speed hump at the main entrance: H 80mm W480mm. Upon arrival please report to the Welcome Centre in the main visitor car park.
  • By bus: Services from Bangor and Caernarfon to Llandudno, there is a mile walk from the bus alighting at the castle driveway.
  • By train: Bangor - 3 miles.
  • On foot: It is a mile walk from the main gates. There is a path through the woodland that will lead you to the main car park. Visitors must enter via the Welcome Centre.
  • Parking: There are accessible spaces near the Welcome Centre.
